A Mage Vs. DH Battle For the Top: Mythic Week Midnight Season 1 Raid DPS Logs, Week 2

Starym's Avatar by Starym

We’re a bit late with the raid logs, so we have both last week’s tuning and a little bit of this week’s to contend with, as this new reset has already clocked in a day or two. We’ll be looking at both Heroic and Mythic, as the new raid structure has seen more guilds get kills in the maximum difficulty. We’ll also be checking out different bosses across the two difficulties.

Note: We are using normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it’s AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.

Heroic

Overall Damage 95th Percentile

Devourer has come out on top in this first full week of the season, with Mythic open. The No.1 spot is very fleeting, however, as the next three specs are extremely close to it, and almost identical with each other. Devastation has fallen off since its nerfs, but another Evoker has taken its place, as Augmentation battles it out for No.2 with Frost Mage and Destruction, and the Warlock is currently winning. The next three are also very, very close, as Shadow’s tuning has already pushed it up into 5th, just ahead of Marksmanship and the fallen Devastation. Balance returns from a slot start and takes 8th, while Retribution remains extremely stable from day 1. Demonology makes it two Warlocks in the top 10, the only class outside of Evoker to get multiple specs in. The Rogues are hanging out just outside the top 10, with Subtlety in 11th and Assassination in 13th.

The bottom still features Frost DK, as that 4% bump didn’t quite help it out of last place, at least not yet.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

We see a very different picture in the all percentiles bracket, as Frost Mage is not only on top, but it’s dominating. While Devourer may be on top in the high percentiles, the Mage is extremely solid in the upper-mid. Devastation also holds on much better here, only dropping two spots into 3rd. There’s two new specs in the top 10 here as well, with Subtlety and Unholy making the cutoff.

Boss Only Damage All Percentiles

Assassination is back to the top in the direct damage chart, as its single-target damage is always its best side. Augmentation and especially Unholy are also doing a lot better here, with Feral also making an appearance.

Individual Bosses

We’ll be taking a look at the later bosses for Heroic, with the exception of Midnight Falls, as it simply doesn’t have enough logs to be relevant.

Lightblinded Vanguard (Voidspire)

Crown of the Cosmos (Voidspire)

Belo’ren (March on Quel’Danas)

Mythic

Overall Damage All Percentiles

We’re also taking a look at Mythic, as there’s plenty of guilds getting kills in the relatively easier first two raids. We see Devourer is far and away the best spec for now, with Demonology a distant 2nd. Demon Hunters are eating especially well in this early week, as we have both of their DPS specs in the top 3! Survival is also much better than in Heroic, as are Fury and Arms.

Boss Only Damage All Percentiles

Surprisingly, the direct damage chart is very similar to Heroic, with Feral doing a bit better.

Individual Bosses

We’ll be looking at the early bosses here, as very few guilds have reached the last few.

Chimaerus (Dreamrift)

Imperator Averzian (Voidspire)

Vorasius (Voidspire)

Fallen-King Salhadaar
