The Public Test Realm for the final major content patch of the War Within expansion is live and there’s a whole lot of information coming from it. The Adventure Journal has the information for the final raid of the expansion. Here we can see a lot of details on each raid boss, including the final one. And Dimensius, aside from being the largest boss ever in WoW, has quite the plot twist ready for us! Well, a plot twist if you haven’t already checked out our preview of the main campaign.

An Unexpected Source of Help
While it was clear that the Dark Heart ending up with an Ethereal at the end of the Liberation of Undermine raid in patch 11.1 wasn’t what the main antagonist of the War Within wanted, it was still quite a surprise to see her show up as a potential ally in the campaign. And now we see she’s also in the Dimensius fight! That’s right, Xal’atath will be joining players in fighting the Void Lord at the end of Manaforge: Omega!
From that we can see she’s part of the fight, battling Dimensius, and also gets sucked into the Dark Heart with us. But that’s not all, as she’s also directly helping players.
And she’s doing so in a very cool way: granting us access to flying/Skyriding mounts! Well, and protecting us from instantly dying, but clearly the flying mounts are more relevant!
The intermission phase seems like it will involve players flying around the Dark Heart, with Xal’atath empowering our legendary cloak to protect us from the instant-kill Endless Darkness. Players will have to hit the waygates to refresh the cloak buff and protection and get some much-needed Vigor.
The Dark Heart
We then continue the fight inside the Dark Heart, which is where Dimensius will be summoning exploding planets and stars to defeat the players. Blizzard weren’t kidding when they said this was one of the most epic boss encounters ever!

How exactly it all ends is unknown. But considering our current relationship with Xal’atath, she’s not really going to play nice after Dimensius is defeated. The War Within has been all about the Dark Heart so far, and Blizzard specifically said the events of the patch and raid lead into the next expansion’s story, so it seems likely the Dark Heart is somehow ending up near/in the Sunwell (since we know Midnight takes place in a revamped Quel’Thalas).
So, while Xal’atath is our unlikely ally during the fight, that probably won’t last long. What do you think about this unlikely pairing?
