Blizzard Is Staffing a 2026 Launch Right Now And That’s the Tell

Blizzard has posted a Product Marketing Manager role for an unannounced game back in November 2025, and the timing’s doing more than the listing itself. It’s a 6-month contract starting January 2026, which immediately raises the question: what exactly needs to be ready that early?

What Does the Job Hiring Post Reveal?

This role’s tied to a free-to-lay title with live service ambitions, which narrows the field significantly to Blizzard games built around long-term engagement and seasonal content.

This position is explicit temporary, running for 6 months, and focused almost entirely on go-to market execution.

Why Starcraft Keeps Coming Up Anyway

Recent reporting has already pointed toward Blizzard working on a new StarCraft title, potentially a third-person shooter, with BlizzCon 2026 positioned as a major reveal moment.

While the job posting doesn’t confirm that connection, the overlap is hard to ignore. A global marketing lead hired specifically to prepare launch frameworks right before BlizzCon 2026 fits that timeline almost too clearly.

What If It’s Not StarCraft After All?

If the job posting isn’t tied to StarCraft, it could very well be intended for a new Classic experience. While the rest of the world is not getting Titan Reforged servers, Blizzard confirmed they’re “cooking up a new Classic experience.” Hopefully, BlizzCon will be packed with exciting announcements!

We have big plans and big ambitions for this type of “found photographs” content set in the original world of Azeroth, but in order to realize those ambitions, we need to make sure we’re spending our time where it will make the most impact on the long-term future of WoW Classic. We want to set ourselves up for success by taking take the time we need to get in the proverbial kitchen and “cook”, iterate on, and shape our ideas and lessons learned from Season of Discovery into something truly exciting. Season of Discovery was always meant to be an ephemeral seasonal experience, and while it became so much more for a time, we’re extremely excited about the things we’re working on for the future.
