According to a recent report by Windows Central, Blizzard is currently working on a new third-person shooter set in the StarCraft universe that’s going to be headlining BlizzCon 2026.

First Mention and the Road Ahead

It was first discovered Blizzard was working on a new StarCraft game in Jason Schreier’s Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future of Blizzard Entertainment book published last year.

The book talks about the history of Blizzard Entertainment and its works on Warcraft and Diablo. According to the book, the new game set in the StarCraft universe is spearheaded by Dan Hay, Executive Producer & Creative Director at Ubisoft, as pointed out by GosuGamers.

In May 2024, Blizzard’s job postings hinted at a new PvE game in development with “multi-season story arcs”. However, it’s unclear whether they were intended for this new StarCraft title.

Details are very scarce about the game right now with sources close to Windows Central’s Jez Corden only confirming the game’s existence.

We can’t wait to see what Blizzard is cooking and we’re excited on Icy Veins here to cover another Blizzard title!

BlizzCon 2026 runs September 12-13, 2026, so stay tuned for more details about the game!
