Charter Neighborhoods Unavailable, Blood and Night Elf Decor Timing: Housing Development Notes, December 1st

Blizzard have posted the first Housing-specific development notes. The first batch focuses on two issues, starting with Chartered Neighborhoods.

In addition to Public and Guild Neighborhoods, Chartered are the third option, offering any 10 players the option to create their own. However, they will not be available at Early Access launch due to server strain concerns. No announcement on when they’re coming, but it will be at least “weeks”. The second topic covered is the Blood and Night Elf exterior decoration options. These will also not be available on Early Access launch and will most likely be coming with the 12.0 pre-expansion patch.

In this thread, we’ll post notes from WoW developers as the various parts of the Housing system see final iteration, from Early Access all the way through the launch of Endeavors.

One aspect of Housing that we want to clarify before Early Access begins tomorrow is this: there are two types of neighborhoods that will be available after patch 11.2.7 this week– public neighborhoods and guild neighborhoods.

Housing enthusiasts will already know that we’ve also developed a third type of neighborhood: Charter neighborhoods, which can be founded privately by ten players who are not necessarily in the same guild. Charter neighborhoods will not initially be available from the Neighborhood Steward. Our concern here is for the performance and stability of the game as we launch a very complex patch. We’re highly focused on delivering a performant game service as players create many neighborhoods over the next few days and weeks.

We’ve also seen questions from players about the arrival of Blood Elf and Night Elf exteriors. We’re in final development of these, and we expect to add them to the game as options for your houses in the 12.0 patch.
