Did Blizzard Just Tease a New Demon Hunter Spec Nearly a Decade After Their Introduction?

The latest WoWCast episode just sent all Demon Hunters into speculation overdrive!

In the upcoming Ghosts of K’aresh content update, Blizzard showed off a council of Demon Hunters, and the one in the middle has Void-wreathed warglaives and a distinctly void-themed helm. Void-Touched Demon Hunters in K’aresh Raid

In the footage, 3 Demon Hunters stand ready, but only the central feature sports the unmistakable Void vibes: purple-black glaives, a swirling void helm…

A Void Metamorphosis Icon Already in the Patch 11.2 Game Files?

The initial Patch 11.2 client contains a new icon called “INV_112_Ability_DemonHunter_MetamorphasisVoid.BLP“, which could be intended for a Void-themed Metamorphosis for Demon Hunters in the future. Remember how at the beginning of The War Within expansion, the game already contained files referencing an Ethereal raid that we’re getting just now? Oh, and here’s the icon.

As we march toward an expansion literally themed around the Void, this feel more like setup than accident.

Mysterious Void Demon Hunter Model

To spicy things up even more, here’s a datamined Void DH model from the Patch 11.2 game files:

New Specs for Old Classes?

Could Blizzard be moving away from always adding new classes, and instead, dropping new specs for old ones? After Augmentation, anything feels possible, really. And let’s be real here for one second: a void-themed DH would make so much sense fighting the shadows in Midnight!
