It’s a very exciting time in the Venomous Abyss Race to World First, a historically long one at that. Echo seem to be back in a big way, taking a huge lead in the race. After almost 3 years and a full expansion of not getting to that first place, there’s a very real possibility we may be seeing them at the top this time around.
Ula’tek in Week 3
The race has been one of the longest in modern RWF history. We’re currently in week 3, which hasn’t happened since the Sepulcher of the First Ones, the final Shadowlands raid. That one was long on the back of its big number of bosses, as well as some particularly nasty bosses like Halondrus and Anduin, as well as the Jailer, of course. The Venomous Abyss, on the other hand, has a different claim to length-fame.
Almost the entirety of the first week was spent gearing characters up in split raids, from Normal to Mythic. The bosses were extremely difficult, even in Heroic, and all of them received major nerfs throughout the weeks. This meant the top guilds only came in to proper Mythic progression late in the week, and did a lot of gearing in week 2 as well. This pushed back the actually interesting part of the race, and so we found ourselves here on day 3 of week 3 (17 total) of the race. The three guilds were pretty close on Ula’tek progress until now, mostly being around 10% apart and 40% away from a kill.
One Echo pull changed all that today, as they got the boss down to 7%, from previous bests around 40%.
But that wasn’t all, as the pulls continued and they managed to get the boss down to 3.7%!

Update: they’ve gotten it even lower! 2.8%!
