Final Week to Farm Rare Raid Mounts — How to Build an Alt Army Fast

Stan's Avatar by Stan

The first-ever Collector’s Bounty is ending soon, and with it, your chance to loot rare raid mounts will be gone for at least another 12 months. In our latest guide, we cover how to increase your odds at scoring the rare raid mounts even with lockout limitations.

One More Shot Then What??

Most of the raid mounts (with a few exceptions, like the mount from Alysrazor) can only be farmed once per week per character. This means you’ve effectively got one more shot before the event ends next reset if you’re playing a single character.

However, there are a few ways to increase your odds that involve alts. Keep in mind this probably won’t work for raids like Sanctum of Domination or Sepulcher of the First Ones. The methods mentioned here are intended for raids that don’t require max-level characters or gear to finish.

I Have 0 Alts. What Should I Do?

If you have 0 alts and bought The War Within expansion, chances are you still have a free unused Level 70 Boost. Check the upper-right corner of your login screen for this logo, create a new char, and boost it to Level 70! Boom, that’s it! You now have 1 more character that can run ICC for Invincible’s Reins, Ulduar for Mimiron’s Head or Tempest Keep for Ashes of Al’ar.

I Have Multiple Alts. What Should I Do?

If you have multiple alts, I recommend leveling them to 50 by spamming Timewalking Dungeons. The Winds of Mysterious Fortune event is ongoing, and with the insane XP gains, you should reach Level 50 with your alt very fast. Before logging in, use the free Gear Upgrade if it’s available to your alts.

All eligible alts will see the following green Gear Update text below their Level / Class.

If you can’t be bothered with the rotation, go with the default starter build.

Don’t forget to open your Spellbook and drag Single Button Rotation to your action bar.

Why Level 50?

Level 50 seems to be the sweet spot for most raid mounts and should allow you to comfortably solo raids up to the Warlords of Draenor expansion.

And before you go: okay, but what about raids from Legion and onward? Well, as mentioned above, this method focuses mostly on speed and mounts that you can grab up to WoD, but you can always try hitting a higher level with the alts to increase the amount of mounts you can farm, but that’s going to cost you more time.

Personally, I’d rather have Invincible in my inventory than the ugly Mythic Jailer mount (sorry Blizzard) that’s so difficult to get even at max level with decent gear.

I Have 0 Alts and Boosts. What Should I Do?

If you don’t have any alts, here’s the fastest way to reach Level 50 with a completely new character without too much preparation.

  1. Create a new Allied Race character. They start at Level 10.
  2. Stack all the available XP bonuses for max gains.
  3. Queue up for Random Timewalking Dungeons! They are available starting at Level 10. Spam them until you reach Level 50.

How to Solo ICC Fast

You should be able to comfortably solo 25 Heroic Icecrown Citadel at around Level 41-50. There’s a skip we wrote about that takes you from Blood Queen straight to Sindragosa. Check it out to save time!

How to Solo Ulduar Fast

You can also comfortably solo Ulduar and Yogg +0 at Level 50. Gear doesn’t really matter, as you can see in the following video shared on the official forums.

We also covered a skip that takes you from Kologarn straight to Yogg, but it is very tricky to perform and requires practice.

By the way, you don’t need to bother with the Ignis the Furnace Master and the Proto-Drake boss after Flame Leviathan. Both are optional bosses, so don’t waste time and head straight for XT!
