It’s time for a short summary of the first couple of days of the inaugural Midnight Race to World First! Five of the seven available bosses have fallen, with another two waiting in the wings, as Liquid get a fast start with Heroic week taking away most of the gear grind!
Two Raids, Seven Bosses, Five Dead
Midnight’s strange launch tier has been smoothed out, at least for the very top guilds. The first day saw splits galore, but immediately after that (and a bit of Mythic+ on the side) we saw Liquid head into Mythic. Before the top dogs went in, however, two of the usual early bird suspects went in and grabbed a World First each! Melee Mechanics took the very first kill of the tier, with Voidspire’s Imperator Averzian getting the dubious honor of dying first. Nurfed took the second kill, as Vorasius, also of the Voidspire, was next to go.
After that, it was over with the World Firsts for anyone not named Liquid, as the guild started up with something unexpected. With the Dreamrift being a separate raid, and therefore a separate lockout from the main Voidspire, they decided to do five Mythic splits on Chimaerus, the Dreamrift’s only boss. The boss died after a couple of pulls, even with the more thinned-out roster. The rest is the usual steamrolling, as the four bosses of the Voidspire went down without much of a fight. There were no splits present, so the full roster plowed through Imperator, Vorasius and Fallen-King Salhadaar. The fourth boss was a bit of a surprise, as the dragons Vaelgor & Ezzorak put up much less of a fight than expected. It only took 5 pulls for Liquid to take them down, and they’re still the only guild to do so.
The First Real Boss
Luckily, the fifth boss of the Voidspire isn’t as much of a pushover as the other four. Lightblinded Vanguard is not only still alive, but after 14 pulls sits at a 59% best. That was it for Liquid’s day, and we saw plenty more non-WF kills as well, with Instant Dollars, JTH, Huoguo Hero, Tempo and more getting seconds and thirds.
And the full kill:
Echo ventured into Mythic a little while ago as well. They haven’t poked Voidspire yet at all, but they did take Chimaerus down in the Dreamrift, also doing splits on the boss. It’s still early in the day for the EU guilds, so we’re sure to see more kills soon.
And that’s it for the first two days of the first tier of Midnight. It’s certainly a strange one and already had some weirdness with the Mythic splits. However, it’s a very linear path from now until the end of the tier. There’s two more bosses, the already pulled Lightblinded Vanguard and the Crown of the Cosmos. Then next week it’s time for the actual final two bosses to open up, as the March on Quel’Danas starts with Belo’ren and Midnight Falls.
