Hunter Durendil has claimed the World First solo kill of Cauldron of Carnage, the Liberation of the Undermine raid encounter, which still counts as current expansion content. He also took down Sprocketmonger Lockenstock and Rik Reverb, which are later bosses, but the Cauldron was the hardest to solo. Interestingly, he also mentioned that Vexie and the Geargrinders, the very first boss of the raid, may be the hardest to pull off!
Solo Strategy
For the whole fight, Durendil had to kite the gorilla and damage Flarendo during the clashes. He would kite the gorilla up the stairs to DPS the boss. After that, he went down before the clash, feigned death, so he wouldn’t port him back up, and dismissed pet to avoid it being stuck upstairs or having aggro.
Durendil noted that the beam mechanic had unlimited range, so it would kill him if he didn’t move. The player also had to manage the stacks of the debuff and use Aspect of the Turtle every two rotations.
The player noted in the YouTube comment that this strategy wasn’t perfect and there was still room for optimization.
