Less FOMO: Promotional Mounts and the Trading Post

Blizzard have addressed recent player concerns with promotional campaigns and the limited amounts of rewards they often offer. They have announced/reminded players that the intention is for all current and future promotional rewards to be available on the Trading Post later down the line.

We’ve recently monitored a situation where a limited promotional mount ended up being much less available than players expected. However, we have a good plan for future access to the mount.

Since the introduction of the Trading Post, we’ve considered each new promotional mount to be destined to eventually become available to players via the Trading Post. This allows us to first offer a new mount to a specific community, such as a single country, as a promotional item that has limited availability, and then later remove its ‘limited’ status altogether.

It is our plan with each new limited promotional mount to bring the mount to all players at a later date in the Trading Post, and if we deviate from that plan, we’ll let you know.

The response comes in relation to a recent Pringles promotional campaign. It was held in Germany only, and seemingly only had 3000 codes for a mount.

The above mount’s codes were gone very quickly, and soon thereafter started showing up on ebay and similar sites, for several hundred dollars. Hopefully, this reminder will get those prices down. For those players that REALLY need to get the mount right away, anyway.
