Master Loot Makes a Comeback in WoW 12.0.5—But Only for CN Servers

Master Loot is officially making a return to World of Warcraft, although for now it’s only coming back on CN servers. With the game continuing to evolve following the relaunch in China, the developers appear to be making some region-specific adjustments—and bringing back Master Loot is one of them.

What is Master Loot?

Master Loot used to be a big part of organized raiding in World of Warcraft. Instead of relying on RNG rolls, raid leaders could hand out gear based on the group’s own rules. Loot council and DKP (Dragon Kill Points) systems were often used to decide who got what, and what would be best for guild progression as a whole.

The system was removed with Battle for Azeroth, when Blizzard changed to Personal Loot to reduce potential abuse and give every player their own chance at receiving gear.

Why Do Guilds Want Master Loot Back?

The push for Master Loot’s return has been ongoing for years, especially among mythic raiding communities. Organized groups want control back over their own loot rules.

This isn’t the first time the idea has surfaced. Game Director Ion Hazzikostas acknowledged that Blizzard had considered bringing Master Loot back in some form, though it wasn’t a simple change due to how loot systems were redesigned over time.

As of right now, Master Loot’s revival is another CN exclusive. Do you want to see Master Loot return?
