This post contains heavy lore spoilers.
Apparently, the posters at MMO-Champion have datamined the ending of the story available at Midnight launch. This information comes from Ian “The Red Shirt Guy” Bates who posted a summary of the leaks on X.
What’s Going to Happen in the Midnight Launch Story?
Here’s a recap of what’s supposedly on table for the Midnight launch story. Keep in mind this has been datamined from the Midnight Beta and character animations, posted in the Midnight discussion thread.
- Xal’atath corrupts the Sunwell, turning it into “The Darkwell”.
- After the March on Quel’Danas raid, the Elven tribes (Blood, High, Night, Void, and Nightborne) come together to heal The Darkwell by dropping offerings into it.
- Thalyssra’s offering is an Arcan’dor Fruit
- Umbric’s offering is a Void Crystal (yes, really)
- Shandris’ offering is a vial of Moonwell Water
- Vereesa will offer a crown that supposedly belongs to Anasterian
- This will create “The Dawnwell”, that might have a rainbow color effect.
Rainbow Effect?
Apparently, the offerings are color-coded and it’s speculated based on the Mythic raid boss housing decor that The Dawnwell might have a rainbow color effect. Keep in mind nothing has been confirmed, it’s just datamining and assumptions, so take it with a grain of salt.

What Does This Mean for the Story?
Well, this is what Blizzard probably meant with “reuniting the Elven tribes” in Midnight. That said the community doesn’t seem to like what they call a “care bear stare” ending. You can join the discussion here.
