The Midnight teaser image Blizzard released for their upcoming gamescom presentation is causing a big stir in the community. Specifically, the mystery of the shadow seen in it (which we talked about already) is driving players crazy, pushing them to extremes. That’s right, it’s another community meme bonanza!
It’s Clearly the Sunfury Spire, but What If….
As we talked about before, the shadow at the top of the portal is very clearly the Sunfury Spire in Silvermoon City. There’s even more of the city seen in a different promotional image with the same void monsters. But that hasn’t stopped many players from continuing to speculate just what the shadow might be!
Obviously, none of these are serious guesses and are just for fun. It all started with the big one, the one we also jokingly covered in our previous post:
It seems the Jailer’s influence on the community will truly never die. He was just that… let’s go with “memorable”.
From one big bad to another, this one’s not that far off base, and if Silvermoon wasn’t a 100% certainty, it would be a fine theory!
It also seems some players’ minds have been heavily warped by the Collector’s Bounty mount farming, as a certain spine has gotten into their heads, and they fear its return.
We have some deep cuts as well, with a certain someone (thing?) making an appearance after being front and center in Warlords of Draenor!
Then we move to the more down-to-earth ones. Or rather down to shore, since someone thinks it’s crabs. Someone always thinks it’s crabs…
And while everyone is focusing on the big shadow on top, some are finding even more hints in the pixels below it!
Then there’s the more outlandish ones, seemingly randomly picking the shape from fantasy-related properties. Although this first one would be quite the rock-y surprise!
And finally, the cross-brand and timely promotion everyone’s been waiting four:
This one would also spark a “who’s bigger and has eaten more worlds” competition between Galactus and Dimensius.
