Midnight’s Logo Got a Refresh – Just in Time for Gamescom

World of Warcraft Midnight - Xal'atath

It looks like Blizzard has quietly updated the official Midnight expansion logo. The new version, which features sharper lines and more color throughout, was spotted recently and shared on Reddit. You can also already see it live on the official World of Warcraft at Gamescom 2025 page, confirming that this is, indeed, the new official look.

What Changed?

  • The runed ring around the text is sharper and more defined
  • The inner glow is subtler, now using deeper blue-black tones instead of violet.
  • Letterforms – especially the “D” and “H” – look slightly more modern and polished
  • The background now is more purple, instead of full void-black
World of Warcraft - Worldsoul Saga - Midnight

It feels like Blizzard is finalizing the branding for the next World Soul Saga chapter, right ahead of Gamescom 2025 (Aug 20–24). We already know Midnight will be a huge (if not the biggest) part of their showcase, so the timing lines up perfectly.

This Year’s Gamescom Is Especially Important

With no BlizzCon 2025 on the calendar, Gamescom has become the main stage for WoW reveals, and Blizzard seems ready to make it count.

We already know there will be a Mythic Dungeon and Arena Showcase, dev panels, meet-and-greets with creators, and “exclusive news and updates on Midnight” (all taking place at the WoW booth in Hall 8).

So the timing for this logo update makes sense, especially since it will likely be used across trailers and presentations at Gamescom.

Community Theories

On Reddit, the logo update caused a mix of memes, speculation, and some classic over-analysis:

“This changes everything.” – standard Reddit enthusiasm

A few players joked about runic Easter eggs hinting at the new, speculated Demon Hunter spec or Void-themed class mechanics. There were also some commenters who took a closer look at the restored rune ring, connecting it to Titan seal theories or the larger World Soul narrative.

In the end, though, most players seem to agree; it is just a cool visual refresh ahead of Midnight’s big spotlight at Gamescom. And honestly, I think that is more than enough to get excited about.
