Mists of Pandaria Classic Development Notes List, May 29th

Staff's Avatar by Staff

Blizzard have updated the MoP Classic beta. Reputation gains have gotten a major rework from the original, with commendations introduced later in the expansion added on launch and rep requirements lowered. There are also many fixes for the raid, which is up for testing for the weekend. There’s more changes as well so let’s dive in.

You can also check out this week’s known issues list here.

We’ve updated the Mists of Pandaria Beta today.

Mogu’shan Vaults Beta Raid Testing

  • Mogu’shan Vaults has seen many bug fixes since the previous Beta raid test.
  • The raid will open for testing on Friday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. PDT and will close again on Monday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

Reputations

With these changes, we want to speed up some areas where Reputation gains are otherwise too sparse, as could be seen with the original introduction of Commendations for alts. We don’t want to trivialize Reputations, and daily quests are still the primary source for Reputations in the first few weeks of the expansion. We’ve also aligned components of Reputations that were originally introduced in later patches with their associated content updates; these will come to Mists of Pandaria Classic at later dates.

  • Grand Commendations from original patch 5.1 will be available, allowing you to go from Revered to Exalted 100% faster and increase the reputation gains on your alts by 100% after one character on the account has Revered.
  • Shado-Pan and The August Celestial dailies will not require Revered with The Golden Lotus.
  • Reputation requirement for Valor Point Shoulders lowered to Honored with The Golden Lotus (was Revered).
  • Reputation requirement for Valor Point Hands lowered to Honored with The August Celestials (was Revered).
  • Reputation requirement for Valor Point Waist lowered to Honored with The Klaxxi (was Revered).
  • Reputation Requirement for Valor Point Trinket lowered to Honored with the Shado-Pan (was Revered).
  • The two cooking patterns for 300 hit and 300 expertise from The Tillers have had their reputation requirement lowered to Revered (was Exalted).
  • All Pandaria cooking recipes that created 5 items per craft will now create 10. This includes Banquets and the highest tier of stat food.
  • The repeatable Klaxxi reputation quest Seeds of Fear now only requires 5 items per turn in (was 20).
  • The repeatable Klaxxi reputation quest Seeds of Fear is disabled until after the weekly reset after the first week of raiding. You may still gather the items, but the turn-in won’t be available until after resets.
  • Ancient Guo-Lai Caches will not drop Scrolls of Wisdom, Jewelcrafting Patterns, Imperial Cloth, Relics of the Thunder King, or Relics of the Guo-Lai until after the weekly reset after the first week of raiding. Guo-Lai Caches contain gold and Lesser Charms of Good Fortune until then.
  • Ancient Guo-Lai Caches will not contain Spirits of Harmony or Treasures of the Vale until Siege of Orgrimmar becomes available, as it was in original Mists of Pandaria.
  • Reputation tokens from rare Zandalari spawns will become available with The Thunder King phase.
  • The enemies in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms will give not give reputation with The Golden Lotus until a later content release.
  • The Order of the Cloud Serpent now offer a Bind on Account Flight Log for 800 gold at Exalted. This can be sent to an alt to teach them Cloud Serpent Riding without getting Exalted with the Order of the Cloud Serpent on that character.

Updates

  • Added Mass Resurrection to all classes that have a healer specialization available, as a baseline spell at level 44.
  • The AOE Max Damage Cap has been lifted from 10 to 20.
  • Tank Specializations
    • Vengeance no longer has diminishing returns on its Attack Power gain when fighting multiple enemies.
    • Vengeance will now provide increased Attack Power even if the incoming attack missed.
    • Vengeance attack power generation from spells with missiles is now reduced by your damage reduction for the first 3 seconds of your damage reduction effect.
    • To compensate for this, Vengeance attack power generation is now 1.8% of unmitigated damage (was 1.5%).
    • Fixed a bug causing issues when wiping on an encounter and then experiencing reduced Vengeance gains the next time that enemy is engaged.
