Mobs Now Brag About Killing Players in WoW—And You Can Avenge Them

It’s Dark Souls time in Delves! Players have been spotting some unusual occurrences in the short dungeons, with tombstones and even mobs bragging who they killed?? Here’s what’s going on, with a nifty buff to grab as well.

The Delves Remember

One of the more easily overlooked new features of patch 11.2 is a new social aspect to Delves. In the past day or so, players have been noticing tombstones of other players while delving, and some were very confused!

The feature shows you where other players died, and they can even leave messages with tips (or not), Dark Souls (or Elden Ring if you must be more modern) style. You can buy the messages in the Delve headquarters in Dornogal. They’re themed after legendary characters and locations, so for example, the Memory of Suramar will say the classic line “An Illusion! What are you hiding?”, which can be helpful for secrets.

The tombstones even have some cool stances for the dead characters, and even their actual ghosts moving around the Delve! And this includes your own deaths in the Delve as well.

Become an Avenger for a Buff

But that’s not all, as you’ll find mobs that defeated other players have gotten some fancy titles as well!

Some players are really getting into the spirit of things, avenging their fallen comrades! And it’s not just for show either, as you and the person who was killed get a move Spirit of Cooperation iconSpirit of Cooperation speed and damage reduction buff when you down that mob.

So why are players only noticing this now, considering it’s been live since the start of the patch? Well, aside from more players playing over the weekend, it’s also probably due to higher tier Delves being run. At the start of the week, players were farming tier 1s and similar, and are now dying a whole lot more in the higher difficulties. The timbstones etc., appear regardless of the tier you’re doing, so you could see a tier 8 death in your tier 1.

Have you run into a tombstone or ghost? And have you avenged them?
