More Frequent Raids! Mega-Delve Labyrinths, New Experimental Event, and More! Midnight 2026 Roadmap

Big news comes out of today’s State of Azeroth event, with many announcements and tidbits. But the most important has to be the 2026 roadmap for Midnight! We get to see what’s coming all the way up to patch 12.1.7, with some solid surprises and new features.

Many Raids!

The biggest change from past expansions that’s been announced in the roadmap is two extra raids between Midnight’s launch and 12.1.7. 12.07 brings a standalone single-boss raid. It’s specifically mentioned as the team experimenting with more frequent, smaller-form raid content outside the big seasonal raids.

12.1.5’s Autumn raid wasn’t detailed, and so could have more bosses. Whether these extra bosses were simply taken out of the main 12.1 raid’s “budget,” and we’ll see fewer bosses there is unclear. But we may be looking at at least two completely extra bosses compared to previous expansions. Midnight already broke the mold of recent expansions (going back all the way to Mists of Pandaria) with its three raids at launch, so it makes sense it would continue to do so with later patches as well. The second raid will also be more story-related, setting the stage for 12.2 and beyond.

Mega Delve and Brand New Plunderstorm/Remix-like Event

Two other new major features were announced, with one mysterious and one less so.

Labyrinths are the Delve equivalent of a mega-dungeon, and will offer a longer and more difficult experience for the feature. They arrive with patch 12.1.5 in Autumn. The new feature should be pretty popular with delvers, as it will most likely offer better rewards and a deeper, more challenging experience. You can also do them all at once, or smaller parts at a time!

The other feature is much more mysterious, with very little information to it. All we know is that it’s an entirely new event similar to what Plunderstorm and Remix were, coming from the same team. It’s mentioned as an “experimental” event, just as the previous two were. So we can expect something novel at least! Both Plunderstorm and the two Remixes were received very well by the community, and it’s safe to say they’re a very welcome addition whenever they pop up. The event arrives in late Autumn.

Housing

The housing department didn’t get too many details. Blizzard reiterated that the next goals are pet and mount integration, copy/pasting and mass selecting decor, importing and exporting builds. But we’re not quite sure whether any of that is coming in the 12.1 housing update.

The Rest

12-0.5’s Void Assaults sound like the standard post-launch event we’ve already seen in previous expansions. From Nightfall to more specifically Fyrakk Assaults and similar, it will most likely be like those events. The other event coming in that patch is more interesting. Prop Hunts are meant to be more light-hearted fun, and sound like they’ll revolve around us finding… props. There’s also an overhaul of the friends system coming.

And that’s pretty much it for new additions, aside from the vaguely marked “new content and systems”, “holiday updates”, and perhaps the escalation part of the Void Assaults. Other than that it’s the standard content we’ve come to expect from seasons and mid-season patches.

So, will the smaller and more frequent raids be good? Is this new cadence better than before? What are you most excited for from the roadmap?
