It’s time to check out the most popular specs and groups for the week! Keep in mind that a big tuning pass was announced for the coming reset, so this may change at least a little in the coming weeks.

The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this past reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular DPS Specs in Mythic+
The popularity by Mythic+ level chart is really great at showing how the top DPS specs get focused in on as we get higher and higher into keys. Unholy, Balance, and Arcane just dominate more and more of the proceedings. The DK in particular has the biggest gains as it’s played the least in lower keys. We do see some new specs pushing in at the top levels, with new faces in +18s and 19s!
The overall spec popularity list sees Retribution actually gain 0.1%, taking the same away from Marksmanship. And considering the Paladin is actually getting buffs in the tuning pass, it’s going to be on top for a LONG time. Balance pulls out ahead of Unholy as they also switch by 0.1%, and Enhancement moves past Frost Mage as well to claim the final top 10 spot.
Group Composition Popularity
Group composition won’t be changing any time soon, especially on the tank and healer front. Unholy is getting some changes in the tuning, possibly amounting to nerfs, but Balance and Arcane are untouched. And considering it’s still a giant 18% gap between the No.1 and No.2 compositions, we’re likely to see Vengeance, Disc, Unholy, Arcane, Balance stay on top for a long time.
We’ll see how the tuning impacts the popularity, but these numbers shift a little slower than the DPS rankings.
