The flood of gamescom interviews isn’t done quite yet, as we have more news coming out of the convention. Today was interview day, and the next one we’re covering is Kexman‘s with Lead UX Designer DeiLaura Sardinha and Housing Design Lead Toby Raigini.
Damage Meters
When it comes to addons, damage meters are pretty much the basics. Blizzard will be adding them to the default UI in Midnight. Not everything is decided yet, but there will be multiple meters at the same time, and they are still deciding how close to the very detailed addons there are out there they want to go.
Transmog Revamp, Outfit Slots
There’s a brand new transmog window coming, and it will be bigger than the current one! The auto-switch outfit slots we already talked about will be abundant! Some will be free, and then you can purchase more (pretty cheaply), but there will be a lot of outfit slots. Then, in the “Situations” tab, you can set when these will be switched to, with the example of “when you enter your house” used. Professions and PvP outfits are also mentioned, so there should be ways to switch to those automatically as well. There might also be separate neighborhood and “inside the house” outfit switching options! They also confirm that you will have to pay to set and change the gear in the slots, and that’s it.
Enemy Nameplates and Boss Timers
Many new presets to choose from, like Classic-inspired, modern, or more bulky and big. Threat will also be better shown, with a fire animation, an indication of when a mob is behind you, and more.
Boss timers will also be introduced in the raids, with an ability timeline showing when a boss move is coming. It’s very early in this iteration, so player feedback will be very much wanted in the Alpha and Beta.
Housing and the Outdoors
The interview goes over a few things we’ve already heard about housing, from the new technologies used, to work having started basically since Legion. There’s also a lot of talk about the neighborhoods and the Endeavor system, but nothing that hasn’t been covered already
We also found out there will be more than one thousand decor items when the system launches!
The Outdoor section of the house will come with four themes, at least on launch. Human, Orc, Blood and Night Elves will be the four choices for outdoor theme, with more hopefully added later.
You can check out the full interview below for more specific UI-related details on everything above and more. Most of the interview is housing-related, right up until the 14:44 mark.
