One Big Buff, Many Changes: Devourer Demon Hunter Tuning, January 29th

It’s time for some major changes to WoW’s youngest spec! Devourers are getting some tuning adjustments over the next day, now that Blizzard have seen the spec in action on live servers for a while.

Reap is getting a massive buff, almost doubling its damage, while Consume is getting both a damage nerf and a Soul Fragment generation buff.

Now that we’ve got a few days of live player data to work from, we’re looking to reduce the frequency that Devourers need to cast multiple consecutive Consumes, while also adding significantly more power into Reap to ensure it’s a consistent moment of high damage and fits logically into your rotation.

Will deploy the following hotfixes to the live game as soon as they’re ready (in the next 24 hours or so):

Classes

Demon Hunter

  • Devourer
    • Consume now generates 1 additional Soul Fragment.
    • Shattered Souls now has a 4% chance to cause a damaging spell to generate a Soul Fragment (was 8%).
    • While in combat, Entropy now grants you a Soul Fragment every 12 seconds (was 8 seconds).
    • Waste Not now causes Void Ray to have a 200% increased chance of generating a Soul Fragment (was 100%).
    • Reap damage increased by 75%. Does not affect PvP combat.
    • Consume damage reduced by 30%. Does not affect PvP combat.
    • Fixed an issue causing Devourer Demon Hunters to sometimes switch to an incorrect voice during Void Metamorphosis.

We hope that these changes will also help provide clearer direction to players who are learning and leveling Devourer Demon Hunters.
