Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at 76, and for many World of Warcraft players, it brings a very specific memory from Wrath of the Lich King’s golden age.
What Happened?
According to a family statement shared on X, Ozzy died peacefully surrounded by his family. The cause was not disclosed, but he battled Parkinson’s since 2019, and spinal injuries from a 2019 fall accident.
Less than three weeks earlier, on July 5, Ozzy took the stage one final time at Villa Park in Birmingham for the “Back to the Beginning” farewell concert with Black Sabbath.
How WoW Players Will Remember Ozzy
For WoW players, Ozzy wasn’t just the frontman of Black Sabbath. In 2008, he promoted the Wrath of the Lich King expansion in a TV commercial, where he screamed: “I am the Prince of Darkness” before getting destroyed by the Lich King.
The TV ad instantly became a classic and for many WoW players, it’s how they’ll always remember Ozzy.
