The bans are here! Some players have been using an exploit to get many additional knowledge points for their professions. Blizzard had pulled the trigger and put an end to the exploit itself a while ago, but now the consequences have also arrived.
Suspensions and Point Resets
Many players are reporting suspensions going out to players who abused an exploit to grab basically infinite profession knowledge points. It was a pretty easy one, as you could just buy knowledge books from the vendor over and over again.
There seem to be two different punishments Blizzard is doling out. The first are the suspensions, seemingly one week-long at their base (with possibly longer durations based on prior suspensions). The second is a full knowledge point reset to 0. Players that didn’t abuse the exploit as much simply got their knowledge reduced to zero, removing even legitimate gains. This seems to apply to ANY use of the exploit, as one player reported only trying it out and then selling the extra book back immediately, but still getting their points moved to 0.
We’ve seen no reports on any possible gold made with the extra points. Whether a week-long ban makes up for that will depend on just how much gold some of these accounts made.
What do you think, were these punishments enough?
