Raid Logs Collapse as Players Leave for Midnight Early Access: Damage and Popularity Charts

Starym's Avatar by Starym

It’s a weird week to check in to the raid logs, but it’s definitely an interesting one. While the DPS charts themselves aren’t that interesting this time around, the popularity ones sure are. We see the massive (and very expected) drop in players due to Early Access coming around very clearly, as specs lose half or more of their players. Let’s see what’s going on.

Note: We are using normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it’s AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.

Spec Popularity

The spec popularity numbers showcase just how much an old raid drops off, even in Early Access, as we see less than half the players engaging with the Manaforge. This makes perfect sense, of course, and it’s likely that those that did do the raid either did so before the EA release or didn’t get EA at all. The No.1 spec remained the same and lost around 11k players, as Frost still dominates the field. Unholy has crept up into 2nd, pushing Devourer down, as both specs drop around 10k players.

Overall Damage 95th Percentile

The top 3 remain the same as last week, with Devourer pulling a little further ahead. Devastation is the first one pushing up, as it gains two spots in 4th. Despite its popularity, Frost Mage remains stable in 5th, while we see Windwalker gain a spot right after. Enhancement and Destruction meet, with the Shaman dropping 3 spots and the Warlock rising one. Survival drops out of the top 10 altogether, hanging in right behind Elemental, which grabs the final spot. Arcane joins Arms and BM at the very bottom, as Augmentation moves a few spots up.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

We see Frost doing much better here, rising all the way to 3rd behind the DH and DK, pushing Demonology down one. Havoc is also pushing way higher, gaining two spots in 5th, with Devastation rising here as well, but only into 6th. Windwalker only gains one spot, while Survival manages to hang on to the top 10, but barely.

Heroic Spec Popularity

The player drops are much higher here in Heroic, with the top two specs dropping over 20k players each. Frost makes it to the top of the charts here as well, with Demonology also rising.

Heroic Overall Damage All Percentiles

Survival is holding one very well, only dropping to 2nd place. Devastation rises here as well, and we see Affliction hanging on in the top 10. Both non-Frost Mages manage to find themselves in the bottom 3.
