Blizzard is adding a Combat Assistant in Patch 11.1.7 that will help you improve your rotation.
The latest episode of WoWCast has Dratnos, Max from Liquid interview Game Director Ion Hazzikostas who confirmed that Hekili is coming to World of Warcraft in Patch 11.1.7.
Highlights
- For accessibility, they are implementing a single-button assistant that casts a rotation of damage spells using a single button, but it increases the time between using abilities by 0.2 seconds.

- The Rotation Assistant is talent-aware, meaning it will shift recommendations based on selected talents and combat situations (single-target vs AoE).
- The new Rotation Assistant builds on the Cooldown Manager added in Patch 11.1.5.
- The interview further explores how reliance on addons like WeakAuras is shaping raid design. Devs oftentimes redesign mechanics to reduce the need of these addons.
- There’s a shift toward clear visual and audio cues for dangerous mechanics in Mythic+.
- The goal with the rotation helper is not to simplify gameplay but to streamline baseline complexity.
- Blizzard wants a future where only complex computational aid remains outside the base WoW UI. They want you to be able to track damage and healing natively.
- Beyond that, the interview didn’t mention anything about Patch 11.1.7 and we’re still waiting on Blizzard to drop the first build!
