The Best and Most Memorable Secret Phases of Raid Bosses

Staff's Avatar by Staff

Here’s another fun list coming from hirumaredx, as they dive into the awesome world of secret boss phases. We haven’t actually seen that many throughout WoW’s history, so there probably aren’t that many more than 10 anyway, but it’s nice to rank them for fun.

The Bosses’ Most Well-Kept Secrets

We haven’t actually seen a secret phase from a boss in quite a while. Gallywix was expected to have one but turned out to just be a pushover in the end. Many still believe he did have more to the fight but Blizzard cut it short. We’d have to go back to the Jailer for a proper secret phase, which is now two expansions ago! And, of course, he made the list, along with some less known bosses along with some arguable definitions of secret phase.

Halion is mentioned at the start, which is stretching the definition of a secret phase quite a bit. He didn’t have an entirely different phase, just the main mechanic working very differently. Many bosses have extra mechanics on Mythic these days, but Halion’s all the way down at No.10, though, so we’ll let it slide! Denathrius’s secret is also a little borderline, but it definitely qualifies. From then on, it’s all verifiable secret phases, with one exception. Mimiron definitely doesn’t qualify by definition, since it’s more of a difficulty toggle and there’s no phase per se, but we do approve of him making the list, as Firefighter is legendary and definitely in the same genre.

Mar’gok is definitely one of the most memorable ones, as a whole other boss just jumps in on Mythic! And we can’t really argue the No.1, as that scene of big red just WALKING OUT will be difficult to beat!

Which one is your favorite? Do you think we’ll see any more secret phases in the future?
