Well, that was anticlimactic. After a big spike in difficulty on the sixth boss of the tier, the final Voidspire boss proved to be a bit of a letdown. Crown of the Cosmos just didn’t have it. Liquid took it down in short order, and now they’ve cleared everything available so far!
The First Real Boss

The past day in the RWF was a bumpy one. We saw two more World Firsts, as Liquid kept pushing into the Voidspire. Lightblinded Vanguard proved to be the first real challenge of the raid, putting up a strong fight after the 1-5 pull bosses before that. The three paladins skyrocketed the pull count, ending up at a solid 52, considering the rest of the bosses.

Followed by a Disappointment

The final boss of the Voidspire was up next, and Crown of the Cosmos was also the last available boss during this week! The fight seemed a little light from the get-go, despite many Heroic mechanics either sped up or moved to earlier in the fight. It took only 15 pulls to see the whole fight, and another 20 after that to kill the boss for Liquid. All that was needed was a little bit of solid DPS, and the boss was gone.

And that will be it for Liquid’s progression this week. All that’s left is doing Mythic splits with one of their other 100 characters. No, really, they had 120 characters “main-ready”, meaning any of them could make the main Mythic raid with a bit of gear. So now it’s constant Voidspire splits after their 5 Chimaerus splits from the start of the race.
The Rest of the Day
Echo continued on into the spire as well, getting Lighblinded Vanguard down World 2nd, only about an hour ago. They’re starting Crown pulls now and will probably be done with the raid today, maybe even heading into Mythic splits themselves.
Method are still working on Vanguard, but are pretty close to a kill, with a 6% best.
It seems this first week of the first Midnight tier was a bit of a bust, at least when it comes to the race itself. The bosses were extremely easy for the top guilds, and the addon changes may have had something to do with that. Blizzard may have undertuned and oversimplified things a bit too much to compensate for the lack of WeakAuras, etc. On the other hand, this is just boss 7 of what would normally be a 9-boss raid. 35 pulls is still a little low even in that situation, with bosses in that spot usually taking somewhere between 50 and 70 pulls. Especially considering the Lightblinded Vanguard pulled their weight in the 6/9 spot.
But as usual, it all rests with the final boss(es). Next week’s opening of the March on Quel’Danas will be the decider when it comes to any judgments of this tier. Belo’ren and Midnight Falls are the real bosses of the tier, so let’s hope they’re more Vanguard than Crown.
