Reddit user AttitudeAdjusterSE compiled Mythic Raid DPS performance versus spec popularity using the latest two weeks of data from WarcraftLogs.
By plotting specs based on average DPS performance (X-axis) and popularity/# of parses (Y-axis), we get a look at which specs are dominating raids, which are sleepers, and which might be dragging behind!
To make things cleared, the chart is divided down the middle at 0% DPS deviation and 40K parses, giving us four distinct quadrants:
- Top-Right: High DPS, High Popularity
- Top-Left: Low DPS, High Popularity
- Bottom-Left: Low DPS, Low Popularity
- Bottom-Right: High DPS, Low Popularity
High DPS, High Popularity (Top-Right Quadrant)
This section contains very popular specs that can dish out a lot of DPS.
- Retribution Paladin
- Havoc Demon Hunter
- Marksmanship Hunter
- Unholy Death Knight is also partially in this quadrant in terms of popularity with nearly 40K parses.
Low DPS, High Popularity (Top-Left Quadrant)
These specs are very popular, but their DPS is on the lower end of the spectrum.
- Beast Mastery Hunter
- Balance Druid
Low DPS, Low Popularity (Bottom-Left Quadrant)
The following specs lack both the DPS and popularity aspects.
- Arcane Mage – It’s needless to say this spec is closer to the top-left quadrant (40K) in terms of popularity, but it’s not there quite yet. The DPS is around the -1% mark, which means it performs better than most other specs listed here.
- Frost Mage
- Demonology Warlock
- Outlaw Rogue
- Augmentation Evoker
- Enhancement Shaman
- Elemental Shaman
- Feral Druid
- Fire Mage
- Arms Warrior
High DPS, Low Popularity (Bottom-Right Quadrant)
Finally, some data on specs that deal a lot of DPS but are not very popular.
- Destruction Warlock – In terms of popularity, this spec is approaching 40K parses, but it’s not there yet. DPS-wise, it’s at around +4.2%.
- Devastation Evoker, this is the highest-DPS-performing class according to the data.
- Unholy Death Knight (as explained earlier), the spec belongs in this quadrant although popularity-wise, it’s nearly at 40K where we drew the line.
