We have a big project to check out today! A player took it upon themself to see what others think the best and most iconic class is for each of the WoW races! From Orc to Earthen, we get to see what players think the most recognizable, most classic class is for each of them, with some obvious choices and some unexpected results.
Race Identity
Mostopha decided to poll a bunch of WoW players, or, more specifically, r/wow players, to find out what they think about which class fits best with which race. The initial impetus was to get ideas for new alts, as Mostopha wanted one character of each race. Starting almost a month ago, this polling was done in a series of Reddit threads. Each race got its own thread, ranging from 30 to 300 replies. The chosen class was picked from the comment with the most upvotes.
A lot of the results were pretty obvious and Vanilla-WoW-cinematic-based, like Orc Warriors, Forsaken Warlocks, Dwarf Hunters etc. Some were a forgone conclusion, like Pandaren Monk, Dracthyr Evoker and Haranir Druid. But then there are some results that would have been hard to call ahead of time. From Kul Tiran Shamans to Void Elf and Zandalari Priests, there are some curveballs in there. Night Elves get a special category that some might not understand, with the Mohawk class being a reference to a Mr. T commercial from back around Burning Crusade’s launch. They did get a proper Druid answer as well, though.
Perhaps the most unexpected result was Dark Iron Warlocks, but most of the rest make perfect sense. There are some themed sub-classes mentioned as well, with Mechagnomes really needing that to make sense.
There also might be another round of these coming for specs for each race! That’s going to be a much more difficult one to predict, that’s for sure!
