This Memorable Character Is Back and Vengeful in WoW Midnight

There are some memorable characters from The War Within expansion that have since returned in Midnight. One of them is Bubbles Jr., and they’re out for blood!

Who is Bubbles Jr.?

For you to know why Bubbles Jr. is significant, you must learn about their parent, Bubbles. Players who have played The War Within are very likely familiar with Bubbles. This skipper NPC was originally found within the Operation: Floodgate dungeon.

In Season 2 of The War Within, Bubbles was a mini-boss encounter shortly after the Swampface boss encounter. Bubbles was particularly infamous in this version, as his abilities were dangerous in higher key levels, to the point where some players would consider skipping them altogether via invisibility potions or even death runs.

This changed in Season 3 of The War Within, when Operation: Floodgate returned as a dungeon in the Mythic+ pool. A note during PTR testing at the time simply mentioned that “Bubbles’s location was adjusted”, with little extra information. It turns out, this “new location” was right by Swampface, which resulted in Bubbles being killed in a gruesome fashion as the boss spawns in the dungeon.

Bubbles Jr. can be found by a pipe just after Bubbles’s original encounter spot, overlooking the area. Nothing really happens when you approach him in Operation: Floodgate, but you know he saw us kill Bubbles many times before his changes in TWW Season 3.

Bubbles Jr. Returns in the Blinding Vale Dungeon

In Midnight, Bubbles Jr. can be spotted in the Blinding Vale dungeon, by the waterfall on the way to Ziekket, the last boss in the dungeon. He does not always show up in the location, but if you have done Operation: Floodgate, he will definitely remember you.

Once again, nothing really happens if you approach Bubbles Jr., besides the quick chat message. However, he has noticeably grown since The War Within. And how did he make his way from Floodgate all the way to the Harandar dungeon???

There are some minor NPCs that have made similar cameos. Examples include the Lost Lunkers you had to fish in Dragonflight raids, or Sergeant Quackers, who has made an appearance in the Amirdrassil raid and is returning in Midnight. Do you expect us to see more of Bubbles Jr. as he grows? Maybe he will become a raid boss?
