If you soloed a lot of raids last week, you probably know the feeling of chasing rare mounts during Collector’s Bounty, only to walk out empty-handed. But what if the reason those mounts aren’t dropping is because you’r running raids on the wrong difficulty?
This simple oversight could be why your Invincible’s Reins still hasn’t dropped!
The Drop Trap
Many legacy dungeon and raid mounts only drop on a specific difficulty. And if you don’t set it manually, you can waste your lockout with zero shot at the mounts!
Let’s take Invincible’s Reins as an example! To have a chance for it to drop, the raid must be set to Heroic 25-player. If you set the difficulty to Mythic, which didn’t exist in Wrath, the game automatically defaults to the 25-player Normal version instead, and that version doesn’t drop the mount!

If you kill the Lich King on 25 Normal, that lockout is wasted, and you won’t be able to get back and try Heroic that week. Always watch for the golden text in your chat window after zoning it. That will confirm the set difficulty and size.
How to Set Raid Difficulty Correctly for Invincible
- Before entering the raid, right-click your character portrait.
- Set Raid Difficulty to Heroic.
- Set Legacy Raid Size to 25 Player.

Avoid Costly Mistakes with Collector’s Bounty Helper!
As you probably know, Invincible is just 1 out of MANY rare mounts that require a specific difficulty and raid size to drop. If you don’t want to memorize or look up every single mounts by hand, we recommend you to download Collector’s Bounty Helper that sorts mounts by difficulty.
