The tuning has started taking effect already, as we see solid changes in the spec popularity. The very top are only gaining, but the buffed specs are already creeping up. We also see a new group comp enter the top 3 and the top one lose some ground, as things are spreading out.

The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO‘s excellent analytics tools, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this past reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular Specs in Mythic+
We have some runaway leaders here in week 4.5! Frost DK and Resto Shaman pull out ahead as the DPS spec gains another 0.3% of the total playerbase, while the healer grabs 0.4%! Retribution drops off very slightly, but Protection Warrior continues its climb, gaining another 0.2%. Havoc and Prot Pala also make some big strides, climbing 0.3% together. Those tank gains we saw above came mostly at Vengenance’s expense, as it drops 0.4%.
The biggest climber of the week is Beast Mastery, as players saw the buffs and tried the spec out! A 0.6% leap at 3.8 puts it just outside the top 10, moving closer to Marksmanship’s 4.5% in 7th. Down at the bottom we see Arms drop 0.6%, almost making the final 3, which seem to be capped at 0.3% total.
We’ve unlocked +20ies this week! The key is still a pretty exclusive club, with 9 specs playing, but we do see two more specs in 19s, bringing it up to a total of 24.

Group Composition Popularity
We see a bit of a retreat from the top group composition, as it drops 0.2%! The second most played comp gains quite a bit, 0.6% up, as the Havoc for Marksmanship and Ret to Arcane switch is getting a lot more popular. We now also have all top 3 groups sporting a Prot Warrior, as a new contender arrives in 3rd with a combo of the first two compositions, running Havoc and Retribution on top of Frost DK for DPS.
