War Within Weekly Hotfix Summary, September 23rd – 30th: Raid, Class and Dungeon Tuning, Delve Nerfs and More

We’re back with another weekly roundup of all the hotfixes that arrived in retail! It’s been a big week, with a LOT of raid changes, class tuning and tweaks, Mythic+ dungeon tuning, Delve solo nerfs and Zekvir nerfs, and much more!


Achievements

  • Guilds can no longer earn faction-specific achievements that do not match the guild’s faction.
    • Developer’s note: This should fix the occasional achievement spam for Diplomacy, United Nations, Dungeon Diplomat, Pandaren Embassy, and Ambassadors.

Classes

  • Death Knight
    • Rider of the Apocalypse: Trollbane’s Icy Fury slows targets by 40% (was 70%).
  • Druid
    • Feral
      • Rampant Ferocity now damages enemies within 8 yards of the Druid when using Ferocious Bite, instead of enemies within 8 yards of the target.
      • Developers’ note: This change is intended to give Feral Druids more control over which enemies Rampant Ferocity’s AOE hits and avoid cases where hitting a large boss with Ferocious Bite wouldn’t hit other nearby enemies.
    • Restoration
      • All healing increased by 4%. Does not apply to PvP combat.
  • Evoker
    • Augmentation, Devastation
      • Fixed an issue where canceling Deep Breath with Maneuverability could cause the Evoker to briefly fly in place.
  • Hunter
    • Fixed an issue causing Kodo Tranquilizer to dispel two magic effects in addition to making Tranquilizing Shot affect nearby targets.
    • Beast Mastery
      • Beast Cleave damage increased to 90% (was 80%).
      • Kill Cleave damage increased to 90% (was 80%).
  • Mage
    • Fire
      • Flamestrike damage increased by 15%.
      • Phoenix Flames damage increased by 20%.
      • Living Bomb damage increased by 10%.
    • Frost
      • Glacial Spike damage increased by 20%. Does not apply to PvP combat.
      • Ray of Frost damage increased by 15%. Does not apply to PvP combat.
  • Priest
    • Void Leech no longer interrupts eating or drinking.
    • Shadow
      • All damage increased by 4%.
  • Warlock
    • Diabolists’ Overlord, Mother of Chaos, and Pit Lord should now attack the target of the spell that summoned them.
    • Fixed an issue where Shared Fate would be applied to the warlock’s current target, rather than the target of the spell that activated its effect.

Companion Pets

  • Players should now correctly be awarded the Lil’ Bonechewer pet for the achievement Worm Theory. This applies retroactively.
  • Lil’ Bonechewer may only be obtained per-account and can no longer be caged.

Delves

  • Reduced enemies’ health and damage for solo healers.
  • Brann no longer uses Thirty Yards of Rope to dispel pets.
  • Zekvir’s Lair
    • Zekvir’s damage and health has been reduced for both difficulties.
    • Horrendous Roar is now a 2.5 second cast time for both difficulties (was 2.4 seconds and 2.25 seconds).
    • Web Terror’s hatch time increased.
    • Web Terror’s Web Blast cast time increased.
    • Web Terrors now spawn randomly in the room rather than based off of Zek’vir’s current position.
    • Spittle and Regenerating Carapace’s recast times now change while solo to better match each specialization’s interrupt cooldowns.
    • Fixed an issue where Web Terrors would not despawn when the encounter ended.
    • The damage of Angler’s Web has been reduced.
    • Claw Smash’s visuals have been updated.
    • Fixed an issue where Aspect of the Turtle did not work against Claw Smash.
    • Fixed an issue where Claw Smash and Angler’s Web visuals would not display during the precast.
    • Fixed an issue where the Fungal Footpads could make you jump backwards.
    • Fungal Footpads now heal for a percentage amount of your maximum health. The tooltip will be corrected in a future patch.

Dungeons and Raids

  • Xal’atath’s Bargain: Oblivion
    • Addressed an issue where Crystal of Oblivion can sometime fail to path to its target.
  • Ara-Kara, City of Echoes
    • Ki’katal the Harvester
      • Resolved an issue where Cultivated Poisons would apply some of its effect through immunities.
      • Resolved an issue where Cultivated Poisons would remain after the encounter ended.
  • City of Threads
    • Izo, the Grand Splicer
      • Splice duration reduced to 6 seconds (was 9 seconds).
  • Siege of Boralus
    • Fixed an issue that caused Dreadcaptain Lockwood to use Gut Shot unexpectedly when disembarking from the ship.
    • Iron Tide Raider health reduced by 15%.
    • Bilge Rat Buccaneer health reduced by 10%.
    • Irontide Waveshaper health reduced by 20%.
    • Ashvane Sniper health reduced by 10%.
    • Scrimshaw Enforcer health reduced by 20%.
    • Bilge Rat Tempest’s Choking Waters cast time increased.
    • Iron Tide Raider’s Iron Hook ability cooldown increased.
    • Iron Tide Raider’s Iron Hook maximum range decreased.
    • Bilge Rat Demolisher Crushing Slam’s damage ignores armor and its damage has been reduced by 40%.
    • Bilge Rat Demolisher health reduced by 10%.
    • Hadal Darkfathom
      • Health reduced by 5%.
    • Dread Captain Lockwood
      • Dread Captain Lockwood no longer faces players during Mass Bombardment.
      • Clear the Deck now has a cast visual.
    • Viq’goth
      • Addressed an issue where Viq’goth can benefit from Xal’atath’s Bargain: Oblivion.
      • Addressed an issue where Oblivion Crystals can spawn on water or inside terrain.
      • Demolishing Terror’s Slam no longer knocks players back.
      • Demolishing Terror’s Slam damage now ignores armor.
      • Fixed an issue that caused the area effect when dispelling Putrid Waters to not scale in Mythic keystones.
      • Developers’ notes: The intent of these changes is to balance the overall length of the dungeon against the timer, while rewarding players for prioritizing high-threat enemies. The adjustments to Viq’goth aim to even out damage across all armor types and eliminate a frustrating aspect of the encounter.
  • Grim Batol
    • Twilight Warlock’s Enveloping Shadowflame now targets 1 player (was 2).
    • Mutated Hatchling’s Shadow Wound increases Shadow damage taken by 3% per application (was 5%).
    • Faceless Corruptor’s Corrupt cast time increased and damage reduced by 10%.
    • Twilight Destroyer’s Twilight Ember area denial no longer inflicts damage instantly when stepping into the area.
    • Erudax
      • Reduced the visual scale of Erudax to improve visibility during the encounter.
      • Players afflicted with Depth’s Grasp have a brief immunity to Void Tendrils upon expiration.
      • Improved the visibility of Void Tendrils.
      • Mutated Hatchling’s Shadow Wound increases Shadow damage taken by 3% per application (was 5%).
  • Mists of Tirna Scithe
    • Mistcaller
      • Improved the visibility of the Vulpin summoned by Freeze Tag.
      • The range of Patty Cake has been increased.
  • The Necrotic Wake
    • Zolramus Gatekeeper’s Wrath of Zolramus damage reduced by 25%.
    • Zolramus Gatekeeper’s enemy forces contribution increased.
    • Addressed an issue where players can be targeted by affixes while on their way back to the top platform during Nalthor the Rimebinder.
    • Surgeon Sitchflesh
      • Stitchflesh’s Creation’s Festering Rot periodic damage reduced by 20%.
  • The Stonevault
    • Chi Burst is no longer able to pull enemies through the walls prior to killing E.D.N.A.
    • Void Bound Howlers will now properly reset their health when leaving combat.
    • Master Machinists
      • Ability timing has been adjusted to prevent a potentially unfair overlaps between Exhaust Vents and Blazing Crescendo.
      • Molten Metal cast time increased to 3 seconds (was 2 seconds).
      • Silenced Speaker now inflicts damage every 3 seconds (was every 1.5 seconds).
  • Nerub-ar Palace
    • Rasha’nan
      • Fixed a bug that could allow Rasha’nan to become unkillable if defeated at specific moments.
    • Broodtwister Ovi’nax
      • Reduced the health of Colossal Spiders for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the health of Blood Parasites for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the health of Voracious Worms for lower group sizes.
      • Increased the cast time of Poison Burst for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the number of targets for Sticky Web for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the damage over time of Volatile Concoction for lower group sizes.
    • Nexus-Princess Ky’veza
      • Reduced the health of Nexus-Princess Ky’veza for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the damage of Assassination for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the damage of Queensbane for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the damage of Starless Night for lower group sizes.
      • Reduced the damage of Regicide for lower group sizes.
    • Queen Ansurek
      • Acolyte’s Essence periodic damage reduced by 12.5% on Mythic difficulty.
      • Royal Condemnation damage reduced by 8% on Mythic difficulty.
      • Demonic Gateway, Transcendence spirit, Spirit Link Totem, and Wind Rush Totem are no longer moved unexpectedly during certain moments of the encounter.
      • Fixed issue in Mythic difficulty where warning visualization effects for Shadowgates would sometimes fail to appear after the first cast.
      • Addressed an issue where Expulsion Beam visual was notably delayed in disappearing if the caster died mid-cast.

Events

  • Hallowfall Fishing Derby
    • Derby Marks for catching each fish while the Derby Dasher aura is active are now character-specific, instead of shared between your Warband (20 Marks per character).
    • Captain Oathmyt’s “Hallowfall Fishing Derby” quest is now character-specific, instead of shared between your Warband.
    • “Hallowfall Fishing Derby” quests now award 10 Mereldar Derby Marks per completion.
    • “Hallowfall Fishing Derby” quests now give the option of either 2 Soaked Journal Entries, 2 Algari Seekerthreads, or 2 Algari Anglerthreads per completion.
    • Fish specific pools such as the Royal Ripple and Swarm of Slum Sharks will now persist longer when found.
    • Frothy Toxin and Gloom Touch (explosion) damage reduced for lower group sizes.
    • Gloom Touch (DoT) damage reduced for lower group sizes.
    • Chamber Guardian, Chamber Expeller, Devoted Worshipper, and Royal Shackles health reduced for lower group sizes.
    • Grasping Silk no longer spreads from corpses.
    • Fixed an issue causing Frothy Toxin to sometimes apply fewer applications than intended on Mythic difficulty.

Items

  • Feral Hide Drums no longer work on players above level 70.
  • Treacherous Transmitter – Cryptic instructions are now more reliably completable when used on transports such as the Dawnbreaker.

Player versus Player

  • Fixed a bug that caused Forged Weapons of Conquest to not respect retroactive Conquest gains in certain cases.
  • Added a progress bar to Forged Weapon of Conquest.
    • Developers’ notes: Thanks to player reports, we were able to identify an issue with retroactive progress tracking that did not occur during our initial testing. Affected players will simply need to pay a visit to Dornogal and possibly log out and back into the game to update your achievement criteria progress and, if eligible, receive the achievement.
  • The “Weapons of Conquest” quest for free PvP weapons has been replaced with the Forged Weapons of Conquest achievement found under Feats of Strength -> PvP. Progress towards this achievement can be tracked by viewing the Conquest currency and is retroactive.
  • The Forged Weapons of Conquest achievement grants two Forged Gladiator’s Weapon Tokens which can be exchanged with Lalandi at the Contender’s Gate for free PvP weapons of your choice. 2 tokens for 2-handed weapons and 1 token for 1-handed weapons.
  • To help offset the need for Fury Warriors’ need for two 2-handed weapons, their strength weapon choices will only cost 1 token.
  • Death Knight

      • Doomburst causes Death Coil to burst 2 Festering Wounds (was 3).
  • Demon Hunter
    • Havoc
      • Demon’s Bite damage increased by 10% in PvP combat.
      • Demon Blades damage increased by 10% in PvP combat.
      • Chaos Strike/Annihilation damage increased by 10% in PvP combat.
      • Blade Dance/Death Sweep damage increased by 10% in PvP combat.
  • Druid
    • Feral
      • Sabertooth now increases the damage of Ferocious Bite by 10% (was 15%) and increases the damage of Ferocious Bite per periodic effect by 2% (was 3%) in PvP combat.
      • Taste for Blood now increases the damage of Ferocious Bite by 6% (was 12%) in PvP combat.
      • Rip damage increased by 25% in PvP combat (was 15%).
      • Rake initial damage increased by 25% (was 15%) and its periodic damage increased by 10% (was -6%) in PvP combat.
  • Evoker
    • Devastation
      • Eternity Surge damage reduced by 15% in PvP combat.
  • Mage
    • Frostfire: Frostfire Bolt damage increased by 100% in PvP combat (was 75%).
    • Frostfire: Frostfire Empowerment increases Frostfire Bolt damage by 30% in PvP combat (was 50%).
    • Arcane
      • Arcane Blast damage increased by 45% in PvP combat (was 15%).
      • Arcane Missiles damage increased by 20% in PvP combat.
      • Arcane Barrage damage increased by 15% in PvP combat.
      • Magi’s Spark is now 50% effective in PvP combat.
    • Fire
      • Fireball damage increased by 100% in PvP combat (was 35%).
      • Greater Pyroblast cast time reduced to 4 seconds (was 4.5 seconds) but it now deals 30% of its target’s maximum health in damage (was 35%).
    • Frost
      • Ice Lance damage increased by 25% in PvP combat (was 45%).
      • Frostbolt damage increased by 150% in PvP combat (was 118%).
      • Ray of Frost damage increased by 5% in PvP combat.
      • Ice Barrier absorb amount is now decreased by 40% in PvP combat (was 25%).
  • Monk

      • Enveloping Mist healing increased by 20% in PvP combat.

    • Fixed an issue that caused Pausing Pylon to only affect party members instead of an entire raid.

Quests

  • Taters should be easier to find now for “Tater Trawl”.
  • Slaying Azj-Kahet’s world boss, Orta, The Broken Mountain, will now contribute to the Severed Threads Pact weekly quests.
