We’re unexpectedly back in raid logs territory! After yesterday’s big overview of all the Mythic, Heroic, and Normal logs we just had to dive back in as AttitudeAdjusterSE came out with another of their awesome popularity vs. DPS charts!
DPS Vs. Population, Heroic 75th Percentile
A note about this chart compared to the ones we usually look at: This is the 75th percentile of Heroic, meaning it’s focused more on regular players. It doesn’t include all parses like the other logs we check out either. So,it’s just the cross-section of this player subset.
Shadow and Subtlety ride that middle line for DPS, but the Rogue is among the least played specs, while the Priest is a bit above the middle of the pack. In terms of just damage, things are very similar to the logs we’ve already seen. Popularity is another matter, however, and Arcane is the clear winner in the combo of the two. Frost DK is the closest in the player count while still doing solid enough DPS. And it does seem that despite Retribution’s current sub-par performance DPS-wise, they’re still one of the most popular specs by far.
Augmentation, Survival and Arms are squarely doing the worst in the combined metrics, with low damage and basically nobody playing them. Meanwhile, Balance and Frost Mage are the worst at damage, but still actually have plenty of players! With Balance that’s easily explained by their solid Mythic+ performance. But with Frost… It’s a bit of a mystery! Spec loyalty is very strong there.
