If you thought that the March on Quel’Danas raid had not been released yet, then you would be correct. But where there is a will, there is a way—and where there is a way, there is a Rextroy.
WARNING: Voidspire ending spoilers ahead.
The Sunwell Situation
Using the dark nauru, L’ura, Xal’atath has corrupted the Sunwell—now the Darkwell. After completing the raid, the Darkwell can be seen shooting into the sky over Silvermoon, and naturally, players went to investigate.
Entering the Darkwell affects players with a devastating debuff,
Overwhelming Oblivion, dealing 45% of the player’s total HP per second. This debuff is almost impossible to survive, but before you hit the floor, you can see L’ura—the final boss of the March on Quel’Danas raid.
And of course, that’s exactly where Rextroy steps in:
World-First L’ura Kill?
Rextroy, a player well-known for finding clever exploits, did exactly that. By discovering that the damage from
Overwhelming Oblivion was technically “self-inflicted”, he used
Resurrection Sickness and the
Whole-Body Shrinka’ to bypass the debuff. Surviving wasn’t the issue anymore—actually damaging L’ura was.
To pull it off, they used a combo involving low-level rats and a bugged monk ability that deals huge amounts of damage—an exploit Rextroy had already used to one-shot a World Boss.
And it worked!
But what could have been the world-first L’ura kill was not meant to be. Rextroy downed L’ura to 1 HP before realising the boss had been flagged as unkillable.
Either way, Rextroy’s determination and detailed knowledge certainly make for an interesting watch!
