Blizzard has brought down the nerf hammer on another fast farming method! This one is reminiscent to the Mists of Pandaria Remix Timeless Isle frogs, as players were hyperspawning enemies and killing them off to get some much-needed Market Research.
The Method
A World Quest was used to hyperspawn slimes, and it could not be completed in a raid group. And so you could keep doing it as long as the quest remained active. Blown a Gasket is the quest in question and players were forming farm raid groups to take down infinite amounts of Agitated Slime and Corpulent Slime. Each of them could drop Market Research and the spawn rates were, well, hyper. They could also drop
Miscellaneous Mechanica, which is used for purchasing many different Undermine mounts.
Aside from the obvious too fast currency gains for those in the know, there is another potential reason Blizzard may have put an end to this particular farm. There were more and more raid groups being formed as players found out about the method. So many players killing so many mobs very quickly started straining the affected servers, and lag started appearing for players not involved in the farm. This is the kind of thing that usually causes the swiftest of Blizzard reactions. And so it did here as well.
The Reason to Farm and the Fix
The way the farm was nerfed was pretty direct and simple. The slimes simply no longer drop Market Research. The hyperspawn method may still be around but it no longer matters.
Market Research itself is very useful for the Darkfuse Solutions Undermine Cartel reputation. The research get you the Box of Darkfuse Miscellany, which grants reputation. With rep gains currently doubled during the Winds of Mysterious Fortune event, this was even more valuable! Along with other things, the Darkfuse reputation could get you the
Bronze Goblin Waveshredder mount from the post-Exalted reputation paragon boxes.

You can also buy the Darkfuse Demolisher much earlier, at Revered:

So it’s back to the regular ways of getting Market Research then, as the community searches for the next mega farm! Enjoy those S.C.R.A.P. piles!
