With the Voidspire raid now available on live servers, we get to see a new raid finale cinematic.
Before you proceed watching or reading the article, keep in mind it contains heavy lore spoilers.
What Happened?
As you probably know, Alleria Windrunner absorbed the essence of L’ura, a void-infused naaru at the Seat of the Triumvirate back in Legion. When you play through the Voidstorm campaign with Arator, you quickly see L’ura in one of the in-game cutscenes.
In the Voidspire raid finale, we see Xal’atath ripping L’ura out of Alleria with the 
Blade of the Black Empire, tossing the naaru into the Sunwell, creating the Darkwell. Oddly enough, Alleria didn’t die after being stabbed with probably the most powerful weapon in WoW’s history. Both her and Turalyon got transported to an unknown place whereas Arathor got teleported to safety.
What’s Next?
The story will continue in a few weeks when March on Quel’danas becomes available. We already know how that will pan out:
- After the March on Quel’Danas raid, the Elven tribes (Blood, High, Night, Void, and Nightborne) come together to heal The Darkwell by dropping offerings into it.
- Thalyssra’s offering is an Arcan’dor Fruit
- Umbric’s offering is a Void Crystal
- Shandris’ offering is a vial of Moonwell Water
- Vereesa will offer a crown that supposedly belongs to Anasterian
- This will create “The Dawnwell”, effectively clearing the “Darkwell”, oh well!
