We at Icy Veins are looking to bring more active World of Warcraft players/news writers into our editorial team. Whether you’re already known in the community or someone who simply loves playing the game, this is the kind of opportunity that doesn’t come around often…
What We’re Looking For
You need to be the kind of player who logs in daily, knows the difference between a datamined spell and a tooltip change, and who can type fast enough to break the news before someone else does.
We’re talking weekly PTR dives, BlizzCon coverage, and being ready to drop what you’re doing when a surprise blue post hits!
Requirements
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- You write well. Really well. Solid grammar, clean structure, and have a voice players want to read. Native fluency is not required, many members of our team are not native English speakers, but you do need an exceptional level of written English.
- Everything we publish is written by real people who know the game in and out. If you’re using GPT tools to do the work for you, this role IS NOT FOR YOU.
- You actively play World of Warcraft, Mainline, Classic, or both. The more you play, the better.
- You’re flexible and responsive. When weekly patches drop or BlizzCon news breaks, you’re ready to jump in.
- You can hop on the PTR, test builds, grab screenshots for your articles.
- You’re a member of the WoW community. Maybe you post on Reddit, run a guild, being known in the circles is a big plus.
- A background in journalism, blogging, using WordPress helps a lot, especially if you covered games before.
- You’re down to joining weekly team calls and writing multiple posts per week.
TL;DR: If you’ve just resubbed for a free mount, this probably isn’t for you. But if you’ve ever done PTR testing for fun or love writing about tuning passes or class buffs, you’re exactly who we want.
What’s In It for You?
Here’s a breakdown of what we offer:
- Compensation for every published article.
- The opportunity to grow in a team of experienced writers.
- Early access to WoW releases.
How to Apply
Send your CV along with 2 WoW-related article samples that you’d be proud to have published on Icy Veins to [email protected]. Only applications with CVs and relevant samples will be considered!
Also tell us why you should be part of the team: What makes you different? What do you bring to the table?
Important Note: AI-generated samples will be immediately rejected, so don’t even bother!
Apply When You Are Ready
To give everyone a fair chance, we’re not setting any deadline for this position.
Good luck!
