Version 2.8 is still in beta phase, and it looks like Zenless Zone Zero is not done changing its upcoming characters just yet.
A new 2.8 hotfix build popped up on Reddit, and it includes a bunch of changes for both Starlight Billy and Promeia. Nothing too crazy when you look at it, but once you take a closer look, it seems like it does change a bit how both of them play.
Promeia Is Getting A Bit of Everything
Promeia’s changes are kind of all over the place. On one side, she is getting some nice quality-of-life adjustments:
- Her Frostbite generation is higher now
- She builds Decibels faster
- Her core passive got buffed, so it scales better
There is also a new thing where Frostbite just auto-converts into Frost Sentence once you hit a certain point, and this should make her rotations feel way better.
But there is definitely a trade-off. On the other side, a lot of her damage got nerfed:
- Lower Ultimate scaling
- No more Frost Sentence refund on Ult
- Weaker EX skills and basics
- Less Ice buildup overall
So it feels like they are pulling her away from big burst damage and pushing her into something more consistent instead. Less “huge spike,” but a more consistent DMG output overall.
Starlight Billy Looks a Lot Safer to Play
Starlight Billy’s changes are way easier to understand. They basically buffed his survivability and made his scaling a bit cleaner. His shield now lasts longer (30 seconds, so that is pretty big), and his damage scaling tied to HP got adjusted.
We thought he was scaling HP and Sheer Force differently than other Rupture Agents at first, but it now turns out he scales the same way, 1HP = 0.1 Sheer Force. However, it is still unknown if he converts ATK into Sheer Force or not. For now, he still does not seem to do so.
The only real downside is that he starts fights with less Adrenaline now, so he might feel a bit slower at the very start.
Other than that, though, this is mostly buffs. He should be a bit more stable overall, especially in longer fights. It is also interesting to note that he is the only 2.0 Agent with a shield in his base kit, even though we got two “Defense” characters that do not really act like defenders.
It lines up with what people have been saying for a long time now, that defense-style characters struggle a bit to find their place compared to just going full offense.
As always with leaks, anything could still change before release, so take the information with a grain of salt!
