With Banyue releasing this week, HoYoverse has dropped his official character demo video, titled “Martial Arts Review.” The demo gives us a closer look at his personality, what he has been up to, and a little glimpse at his relationship with Dialyn!
The video leans into Banyue’s mentor-student dynamic, mixing humor with flashbacks of his martial arts school and explosive moves included.

Who Is Banyue?
Banyue is a Fire Rupture on-field DPS, built around:
- Combo-style inputs
- Tight resource management
- High burst damage during enemy Stun windows
On paper, his kit can look a bit overwhelming. In practice, though, Banyue follows a very clear game plan once you understand what actually matters.
How Banyue Is Meant to Be Played
One important thing to know is that Banyue is not a quick-swap character. He needs field time to function properly, and most of his damage comes from fully committing to his combos during Stun windows.
Stun timing is especially important:
- Stun too fast, and Banyue won’t have the resources needed for his strongest combo
- Stun too slow, and you will miss out on a lot of damage
Team synergy and pacing matter a lot with him, which makes his gameplay rewarding but also punishing if things do not line up perfectly.
