Diablo 2 Players Want More After Warlock Update

Diablo 2 Reign of the Warlock Character Creation Class Screen of the Warlock

The release of Reign of the Warlock did more than just add a new class. It started a conversation about the future of Diablo 2 Resurrected, and Blizzard already seems to be listening.

During recent discussions, developers said they are open to creating more content if players want it. Based on community reactions so far, it would appear that most clearly do.

Community Reaction Is Surprisingly Positive

Across Reddit, long-time players reported buying the DLC immediately, some even on multiple platforms. For a lot of D2 veterans, the simple fact that a 25-year-old game received new content was enough reason to support it.

Many comments even framed the purchase as a vote for continued updates. A one-time payment also felt preferable to seasonal monetization or microtransactions.

However, as was expected, not everyone agreed on the price. A good portion of players who are vocal about this online felt that quality-of-life features like stash improvements and loot filters should have been part of a free patch instead of paid content.

The Warlock Itself Lands Well

Warlock, the new class, is generally seen as fitting Diablo 2’s design philosophy. Most players currently describe it as new but still compatible enough with the original gameplay style.

Of course, there are balance concerns, mainly about early power levels, but most feedback points toward tuning rather than redesign or how the Warlock fits in with all the other classes.

As is the nature of opinions online, some players hoped for a different archetype or visual direction, yet the overall sentiment remains positive. So positive, in fact, that players are now hoping for more “like this”.

Players Already Asking For More

Discussions online quickly moved beyond the current expansion. Popular requests include:

  • A full new act with story and zones
  • Additional classes or skill reworks
  • More stash space and charm inventory
  • Expanded endgame systems
  • Crossplay support

A common theme that also appears repeatedly is that players want new features, but only if the classic feel stays intact.

Blizzard Is Likely Watching Closely

Developers indicated future updates depend on reception. The current opt-in approach allows purists to keep the original experience, while others can try the new content.

For now, the message is simply that Diablo 2: Resurrected may not be finished just yet.
