This Diablo 2 Teleport Trick Lets You Move Further Per Cast

If you have ever watched a Diablo 2 Sorceress speedrun and wondered how they cover ground so fast, a lot of it comes down to one simple trick that most casual players do not even know about.

Teleport does not just depend on your cast speed. There is a simple UI interaction that can increase how far you travel with each cast.

Teleport Has a Hidden Range Boost

On PC, Teleport sends your character directly to your cursor.

The maximum range is linked to your screen, basically how far your cursor can be from your character. That means you are usually limited to about half the screen in any direction.

That is also why diagonal movement often feels better, because it lines up with how maps are generated and lets you cover ground more efficiently.

The Trick That Extends Your Range

Here is where things get interesting. If you open a side menu, like your character panel or inventory, your character is no longer centered on the screen. They shift slightly to one side.

That small change increases how far you can teleport in the opposite direction.

It might not seem like much, but it can add up very quickly.

How to Use It Properly

There is one catch. You cannot teleport if your cursor is inside the menu.

The easiest way to use the trick is:

  • Start teleporting normally
  • Open the side menu after your first cast
  • Keep your cursor outside the menu area
  • Adjust your positioning as you go

It takes a bit of practice, but once it clicks, it feels very natural.

Where It Really Saves Time

The biggest gains come on long straight paths where you already know the direction. The Chaos Sanctuary is a good example. A normal run takes roughly 19 teleports with the menu closed. With the menu open, that drops to around 15 or 16, saving 2 to 4 seconds per run.

That might not sound like much, but it adds up fast over hundreds of runs, and the impact is even bigger on slower teleport builds.

The Bigger Advantage

The real advantage is not just speed. There is also a map exploration benefit. Extended teleport range lets you “probe” the edges of the map. You can jump toward borders, check if the path continues, and immediately change direction if it does not.

That means less time exploring and more time moving forward. It is a big reason why Sorceress runs look so clean and efficient.
