All Legendary Aspects Extract Directly to Codex in Diablo 4 Season 4

Staff Avatar by Staff

Another big change coming with Season 4 on May 15th is related to Legendary Aspects. Right now players have to extract the legendary powers and have them take up precious inventory space so they can then be imprinted on another item. With Season 4’s itemization changes, that will no longer be the case.

The Codex Is All You Need

There will be no more extracting of Aspects come Season 4, as every salvaged legendary item will automatically be added to the Codex. The Occultist is getting lonelier and lonelier all the time!

When you salvage a legendary item, its roll will automatically be added to the Codex. From that point on, you’ll be able to use that specific roll and imprint it on other items as many times as you want. The exact roll you get on the legendary you salvaged will be “saved” to the Codex (that is, unless you already have a better one from before). If you get a better roll later on and salvage the item, it will upgrade your Codex Aspect, and that one will then be usable on any item.

For example, the 12% increased damage roll on the image above, when salvaged, will be saved in the Codex. You can then imprint that 12% onto whatever rare you want (or 6% for non-two-handed weapons). You can also see the two legendary items in the inventory above have an icon on them. It indicates that they are better than what you already have in your Codex. There’s also a nice gold highlight for each Aspect in the Codex, to signify you already have the best possible roll for that Aspect. Each Aspect has 16 ranks, but they aren’t linear. If you get the best possible roll on your first drop of a legendary, you’ll head straight to rank 16 when you salvage it. The power of Aspects will increase by World Tier, so you can only get the best rolls for them in World Tier 4.

Flat Damage Aspects

Aspects that had a direct damage number have been weak for a long time now. Luckily that’s changing in Season 4 as well, since the numbers will be scaling with weapon damage.

This and all itemization changes coming with Season 4 are also applied to Eternal realms.
