Speculations are currently going around, about what the next class in Diablo IV might be. The community has some strong opinions, while Blizzard remains silent, keeping things secret for now. The top picks from players are old classic such as a holy knight-style class like the Paladin or Crusader, the martial arts-focused Monk, or perhaps even a long-requested support-focused healer, a role that Diablo still hasn’t explored.
The following Reddit post had players go over various options, and we picked out the most reoccurring one:
The Holy Knight Rises Again?
The Paladin, a fan-favorite from Diablo, is one of the most requested classes. Players are hoping for a return of the iconic aura-wielding warrior, complete with sword, shield, and light-based spells. Others are asking for the Crusader, the tanky, armor version. Both are often placed together as “holy knights,” and for many, either one would be welcome.
The idea of a melee-focused class with defense and support abilities fills a big gap in the current roster. And for support mains, it’s an ideal fit.
The Monk Is a Good Option as Well
Next up on the community wishlist is the Monk, known for fast-paced melee combos and support skills. Diablo III’s Monk was agile, spiritual, and brought a unique rhythm to combat. In Diablo IV’s darker world, players are curious how this class could evolve.
Monks also bring a light touch of healing and group utility, another reason they’re gaining traction among players who prefer more cooperative roles.
Support Role Please, Blizzard
Talking about healing, a surprising number of players are voicing interest in a true support class. Diablo IV has leaned heavily into self-sufficiency so far, with all classes designed to hold their own. But that leaves some players, especially those who enjoy buffing allies or playing healer, feeling left out.
With new content being much more group focused than solo-play, a true support class would be welcomed!
Another Unique Class
That said, Blizzard has hinted the new class will be unique again, and not what players are expecting, which could mean no Paladin, no Monk, and no obvious nostalgia pick. The Blood Knight who was recently added to Diablo Immortal could be an option, as it is still rather new and was quite popular as well. A datamined “Priest” class has also sparked curiosity.
Vessel of Hatred came with the Spiritborn, which was completely new as well, so another unique class is probably the best bet for now. Until then, the speculation will continue, and if Blizzard’s listening, it’s clear players want something holy, fast, or helpful.
Or ideally… all three.
