Diablo 4 Makes Crafting Cheaper and Simpler in Season 11

If you have been drowning in Veiled CrystalVeiled Crystal and Forgotten SoulForgotten Soul, there is good news! Diablo 4‘s Season 11 update just made crafting far less resource-hungry. From enchanting and imprinting to tempering and salvaging, Blizzard has made quite some adjustments to material costs to make gear upgrades easier to manage.

Crafting Costs Simplified

First off, crafting material costs no longer scale with item power. So if you are crafting a basic rare item or a high-end ancestral piece, you will pay the same flat material price. Only the gold costs remain unchanged.

According to Blizzard, crafting will now “generally never cost more than two types of crafting materials,” meaning it should be even easier now.

What Changed Exactly

  • Imprinting:
    • The old multi-material cost system is gone.
    • Rares now only cost 5 Veiled CrystalVeiled Crystal plus gold
    • Ancestral Legendaries require 5 Forgotten SoulForgotten Soul and gold.
  • Enchanting:
  • Tempering:
    • Players can now select the affix they want from a Temper Manual instead of relying on RNG.
    • Tempering costs have also been adjusted
    • Scrolls of Restoration were also reworked. They now restore only one temper charge but can be used infinitely.
  • Salvaging:
    • Material you obtain from salvaging were completely rebalanced.
    • Salvaging a Rare item provides 5 Common Salvage and 2 Veiled CrystalVeiled Crystal
    • Ancestral Legendaries now give 5 Legendary Salvage and 1 Forgotten SoulForgotten Soul
    • Mythic Uniques give you 1,000 Legendary Salvage and 100 Forgotten SoulForgotten Soul on top of the Resplendent Spark.
  • Masterworking:
    • ObduciteObducite as been adjusted. You will earn 85% less ObduciteObducite, but recipes requiring it have been similarly reduced as well.

Alchemist and Vendor Updates

The Alchemist got new conversion recipes too:

And on top of that, item sell values dropped by 60%, but purchase costs fell by 90%. This means that you will spend far less gold buying gear or materials from vendors.

Overall, Blizzard’s goal seems to be clear. They want to get rid of the tedious material juggling and give players a better upgrade flow. Crafting in Season 11 should feel less punishing, and way easier to keep up with when you are pushing endgame content.

Time to head back to the forge and put it to work!
