<p>PlayStation Plus is officially turning 15 years old this summer. First launched on June 29, 2010, the subscription service has come a long way, and Sony is thanking subscribers with a big celebratory drop: <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo IV</a> will be free for all PS Plus members in July.</p>

Play Diablo IV for Free if You Own a PlayStation Plus Sub!


<p>The updated patch notes for Season 9 brought some bad news with them. One of the builds the new seasonal <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/horadric-spells-guide/">Horadric Spell system</a> made possible was really hyping players up. It was looking like the new Enigma seemingly showed up in Diablo 4! However, as predicted by many, it just wasn&#8217;t to be. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Too Fast, Too Furious</h2>



<p>The Propulsion Catalyst enabled any class that selected the right combo of Arcana and Infusion to basically endlessly teleport as long as there were easily killable mobs around. This was the build that was very much making players excited for the season, especially for those lower mobility classes. Now, the build wasn&#8217;t for high-end pushing, but rather relatively low-end (around Pit 50-60) farming. However, even this was too much for Blizzard, as they put an end to it. </p>

<p>The infinite teleport combo was pretty simple, with the Propulsion Mana Blast Catalyst got an added blink effect to enemies via Floaty Bobble, and then the Bloody Charm reset Propulsion on monster kill. The nerf comes in the form of the main infinite reset generator, Bloody Charm. It now just increases players&#8217; movement speed. Propulsion&#8217;s cooldown was also lowered, but just by a second, so the combo is now just a teleport every 3 seconds at max rank. Not exactly bad, but also not </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Not the Only High-Profile Nerf</h2>



<p>There was one more significant nerf to Horadric Spells, but this one feels more justified. The Sharpening Gizmo has been entirely changed. It no longer deals all of a target&#8217;s damage over time to it on Lucky Hit, instead just dealing a set amount of damage. Players were using this one to pull of some extremely high damage builds, some even going infinite, so it was another expected change.</p>

<li>Awaken an Oracular Rune that Pulls In all surrounding enemies. A torrent of stars follow that randomly strike the area 20 times for damage each.</li>
<li>Cooldown: 15 seconds (11.2 seconds at Rank 20).</li>
<li>Lucky Hit Chance: <s>30%</s> 18%</li>
<li>Rank 10: Stars periodically fall around you and are guaranteed to crash around a Nearby enemy for the same damage.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Disintegrate</b></p>
<p>Arcane Magic</p>
<ul>
<li>Form an Arcane Conductor that emits a persistent beam between itself and you, dealing a steady blitz of damage over 8 seconds.</li>
<li>Cooldown: 10 seconds (5.3 at Rank 20).</li>
<li>Lucky Hit Chance: 9%</li>
<li>Rank 10: Enemies within the beam are Slowed by 50%.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Propulsion</b></p>
<p>Arcane Magic</p>
<ul>
<li>Generate a Mana Blast that delivers damage and Knocks Back all foes. Enemies that collide take another damage.</li>
<li>Cooldown: <s>9</s> 8 seconds (<s>4.3</s> 3 at Rank 20).</li>
<li>Lucky Hit Chance: 15%.</li>
<li>Rank 10: The Knock Back is gargantuan and enemies slammed into terrain by it form a Lesser Mana Blast the first time it happens to them.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Cosmic Anomaly</b></p>
<p>Astral Magic</p>
<ul>
<li>Passive: Manifest up to 5 Anomalies that emit particles which deal damage over 4 seconds.</li>
<li>Active: Command your Anomalies to converge and implode, dealing damage per detonation.</li>
<li>Spawn Rate: Every 5 seconds.</li>
<li>Lucky Hit Chance: 20%</li>
<li>Rank 10: While at 5 Anomalies, you are Unstoppable and the next implosion will deal double damage.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Astral Pillar</b></p>
<p>Astral Magic</p>
<ul>
<li>Shape an Ethereal Column that Taunts for 3.0 seconds. Piercing waves flow from it and deal damage, until you create another one or move too far away.</li>
<li>Cooldown: 7 seconds.</li>
<li>Lucky Hit Chance: 12%</li>
<li>Rank 10: The Taunted enemies become Vulnerable and move faster.</li>

<p>These incantations imbue your Catalyst with power and magic.</p>

<li>Modifies the type of damage or damage-over-time that your Catalyst deals.</li>
<li>After levelling to Rank 5, each Infusion gains its own bonus that allows your Catalyst to deactivate specific monster affixes.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Smoldering Ember</b></p>
<p>Your Spell Catalyst now deals Fire and or Burning damage.</p>
<ul>
<li>Bonus: It destroys enemy structures and has a 10% chance to ignite the ground beneath enemies, dealing <s>150%</s> 450% Burning damage over 5 seconds. While equipped, your Fire Damage Bonus is equal to that of your highest Damage Type Bonus.</li>
<li>Rank 5: Deactivates monster Chilling Winds effects for <s>5</s> 8 seconds.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Nebulous Extract</b></p>
<p>Your Spell Catalyst now deals Shadow and or Corrupting damage.</p>
<ul>
<li>Bonus: Enemies hit by it deal 5-10% reduced damage for 7 seconds. While equipped, your Shadow Damage Bonus is equal to that of your highest Damage Type Bonus.</li>
<li>Rank 5: Deactivates monster Summoner effects for <s>5</s> 8 seconds.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Glacial Nimbus</b></p>
<p>Your Spell Catalyst now deals Cold and or Frostbiting damage.</p>
<ul>
<li>Bonus: Enemies damaged by it are Chilled for 15-25%. This effect happens once per enemy every 1 second. While equipped, your Cold Damage Bonus is equal to that of your highest Damage Type Bonus.</li>
<li>Rank 5: Deactivates monster Explosive effects for <s>5</s> 8 seconds.</li>

<p><b>Corrosive Vapor</b></p>
<p>Your Spell Catalyst now deals Poison and or Poisoning damage.</p>

<li>There are 3 tiers of Rarity for Arcana: Magic, Rare, and Legendary.</li>
<li>Legendary Arcana adjust their effects based on the Catalyst they are bound to. Discover the depth and complexity as you delve through the possibilities.</li>
<li>Contain Specific spell tags that can be relied on to further modify your spell. Many powerful Horadric Jewels relate to these tags, incredible combinations await.</li>

<p><b>Magic</b></p>
<p>Tendrilous Bundle</p>
<ul>
<li>Lucky Hit: Damage from your Catalyst has up to a 35% chance to Immobilize for 5 seconds (+5% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Tranquil Stone</p>
<ul>
<li>Invoking your Catalyst grants Unstoppable for 3 seconds whenever it activates (+0.4 each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Shifting Powder</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst increases your Movement Speed by 30% during its effect and for 5 more seconds after it ends (+8% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Luminous Gem</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst will Daze enemies it damages for 2 seconds (+1 each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Murky Essence</p>
<ul>
<li>Invoking your Catalyst grants Stealth for 2 seconds whenever it activates (+0.4 each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Invigorating Helix</p>
<ul>
<li>Once per enemy every 5 seconds, damage from your Catalyst will Fortify and Heal you for 5% of your Maximum Life (+1% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Bottled Wind</p>
<ul>
<li>Invoking your Catalyst grants a Barrier equal to 30% of your Maximum Life for 4 seconds. After it dissipates, its essence is bottled back up (+4% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Jagged Bramble</p>
<ul>
<li>Lucky Hit: Damage from your Catalyst has up to a 50% chance to deal <s>100%</s> 150% of your Thorns damage (+30% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Reactive Ooze</p>
<ul>
<li>After your Catalyst activates, you gain 5% Maximum Resource Generation per second for the next 10 seconds (+3% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Volatile Crystal</p>
<ul>
<li>After your Catalyst activates, it grants 10% Resistance and Maximum Resistance to the Element of your Infusion for 10 seconds (+2% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Rare</b></p>
<p>Gleaming Conduit</p>
<ul>
<li>The effect size of your Catalyst is increased by 10% (+8% each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Fractured Core</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst deactivates monster Damage Resistance Aura effects for 2.5 seconds, but you take 10% more stacking damage for the same time (+0.5 each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Sapping Crux</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst applies Vulnerable for 3 seconds (+1 each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Potent Alloy</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst destroys enemy Barriers and Knocks them Down for 1.0 seconds after the removal (+0.8 each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p>Sharpening Gizmo</p>
<ul>
<li>Lucky Hit: Damage from your Catalyst has a <s>40%-80%</s> 50% chance to deal 200% Physical damage <s>consume damage-over-time effects and deal 100% of their damage instantly.</s> Your Catalyst Lucky Hit Chance is doubled. (+30% <s>8%</s> each rank).</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Legendary</b></p>
<p>Floaty Bobble</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst gains a specialized blink effect that grants Unhindered for 2.0 seconds. (+0.4 each rank).</li>
<li>Floaty Bobble creates the following effects for each Catalyst:
<ul>
<li>Celestial Surge: Blinks you to the center of its Oracular Rune when it forms and grants Unhindered.</li>
<li>Disintegrate: Blinks you to your target but leaves its Arcane Conductor behind. You are Unhindered while the beam is active and for 2.0 seconds afterwards.</li>
<li>Propulsion: Blinks you to the center of the blast and makes you Unhindered for 2.0 seconds. The melee variant blinks you to the Knocked Back enemies.</li>
<li>Astral Pillar: Blinks you to your focused destination and grants Unhindered for 2.0 seconds while dropping the flare at your previous spot for ranged variants.</li>
<li>Cosmic Anomaly: Blinks you to its implosion, grants Unhindered, and cleanses all your negative effects.</li>

</li>
</ul>
<p>Nightmare Orb</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst gains a specialized Fear effect that lasts 4.0 seconds. (+0.4 each rank)</li>
<li>Nightmare Orb creates the following effects for each Catalyst:
<ul>
<li>Celestial Surge: Stars Fear unaffected enemies for 4.0 seconds. After the Fear ends, there is a <s>25%</s> 50% chance for another star to fall.</li>
<li>Disintegrate: Fears unaffected enemies and deals 100% increased damage to them while they are Feared. <s>for 4.0 seconds. Killing affected enemies restores 5% Maximum Life and Primary Resource.</s></li>
<li>Propulsion: Removes enemy Vulnerable effects to Fear them. While Feared, those enemies randomly form Lesser Mana Blasts. <s>to Fear unaffected enemies for 4.0 seconds. After the Fear ends, a Lesser Mana Blast is formed.</s></li>
<li>Astral Pillar: Every 9th wave Fears <s>for 4.0 seconds.</s> Enemies close to it are Taunted and have their Fear removed. <s>Solar Flare automatically Taunts and lures enemies that are Feared.</s></li>
<li>Cosmic Anomaly: Anomalies Fear and apply an <s>80%</s> 90% Slow to unaffected enemies they come into contact with for 4 seconds.</li>

<p>Frigid Heart</p>
<ul>
<li>Your Catalyst gains a specialized Freeze effect that lasts 3.0 seconds. (+0.4 each rank)</li>
<li>Frigid Heart creates the following effects for each Catalyst:
<ul>
<li>Celestial Surge: The Oracular Rune from Celestial Surge explodes and Freezes enemies. A second one forms after the star strikes end.</li>
<li>Disintegrate: Your Disintegrate beams Freeze all affected enemies for 3.0 seconds after you Evade and also grant 15% Dodge Chance for double that duration.</li>
<li>Propulsion: Enemies that collide twice are Frozen for 3.0 seconds.</li>

The Dream’s Dead: Diablo 4’s Infinite Teleport Build Gets Nerfed in Season 9


<p>As Diablo 4 progresses season by season, players continue to point out and ask for simple yet impactful quality-of-life changes. One recent topic involves a change that makes gear easier to understand and compare at a glance.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s the Problem?</h2>



<p>Ever since Greater Affixes were added back in Season 4, players have been voicing their complaints about how difficult it can be to easily compare gear without squinting at paragraphs of text. Not only does this detract from playing, but with Greater Affixes becoming more common as you delve into Higher World Tiers, trying to gauge what gear is better at a glance can become more difficult for some.</p>



<p>So what&#8217;s the Problem? Currently, when an item with a Greater Affix drops, it has a single star next to its name, showcasing that it has been naturally upgraded. However, if any gear drops with two or more Greater Affixes on it, there is no updated visual to indicate this.</p>



<p>Reddit user <strong>NoRulez112</strong> posted about the issue and called for a straightforward improvement.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What’s the Solution?</h2>



<p>Several comments inside the Reddit thread have pointed out an easy fix: simply add extra stars or some visual that lets the player know the difference between an item having one Greater Affix or several after it drops. This minor fix may not impact the casual player base, but for those who consistently push into the extreme late game of every Diablo 4 season, this minor fix would save a lot of trouble and headaches while farming for your ideal gear upgrades.</p>



<p>It remains unclear if Blizzard will ever implement this change before or even after <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/updated-season-9-patch-2-3-0-notes/">Season 9</a>, since there are several small quality of life <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/one-of-the-biggest-qol-feature-for-runes-is-still-missing/">adjustments players have been asking for</a> that about only half or less have been answered.</p>


Diablo 4 Still Missing One Simple Gearing Feature — And It’s Driving Players Nuts


<p>With each new season of Diablo 4, there&#8217;s plenty of new abilities, gear, and stats to learn, and while new content can be exciting, it doesn&#8217;t always improve the readability of your gear. Back in Season 4, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/masterworking-guide/">Masterworking</a> was introduced, and while it added another layer of strength and personalization to your gear, it still needs some quality of life improvements.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s the Problem?</h2>



<p>Masterworking offers the ability to improve all of the stats on your gear, and with every five levels, you improve one of your standard or tempering affixes, but whatever the initial roll of the stats was is fixed. For example, if you roll for Intelligence on an item and the range is between 500 and 700, and you roll a low value of 500, then even if you masterwork that stat, it cannot be upgraded to its maximum potential unless you roll a high value of 700. Currently, there is no way to easily compare your pre-masterworked gear to a new drop to see which fully upgraded variant would be higher.</p>



<p>Reddit User <strong>Hailwoodnz</strong> posted about this issue and called for a simple change.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s a Solution?</h2>



<p>Despite having the option to view the maximum and minimum values for affixes in the <strong>Advanced Settings</strong> menu, players still desire simpler methods to quickly compare stats. This comparison extends beyond just non-masterworked and masterworked gear; many players are asking for improved ways to evaluate overall equipment stats.</p>



<p>A possible solution would be to allow players to have an in-game gear calculator, perhaps even included as an extra tab in the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/armory-guide/">Armory</a>. Another suggestion would be to simply allow players to view their masterworked items unupgraded to allow for quick comparisons. A third option would be to allow the system to calculate or showcase the upgrades, despite ARPGs commonly expecting players to do math to maximize the full value of their builds. Any way of lessening the constant requirement would be helpful in the long run.</p>


Diablo 4’s Masterworking System Still Fails at One Core Job

Skipping Diablo 4 Season 9? Eternal Realm Still Gets New Content

Hidden deep inside Nightmare Dungeons, they are like mini bonus dungeons packed with dangerous enemies, incredible loot, and seasonal specific rewards.</p>



<p>Inside, you will fight waves of enemies, activate cursed statues, and battle a boss at the end, all while under a strict time limit. It&#8217;s hectic, rewarding, and honestly one of the best parts of the seasonal grind now that Blizzard modified the rewards!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Increase Your Chance of Finding Strongrooms</h2>

<li>Use Sigils With Strongroom Affixes
<ul>
<li>This is by far the best method.</li>



<li>Some Nightmare Dungeon Sigils come with a special affix that guarantees a Horadric Strongroom will appear inside the dungeon. These Sigils are random, so keep an eye out for them in your inventory or craft more with the Occultist until you get lucky.</li>
</ul>

</ul>



<p>We also recommend you sort your Sigils and look for one with &#8220;<em>contains a Horadric Strongroom</em>&#8221; in the text. This makes it easier to keep track of them in your inventory/stash.</p>

<li>Increase Your Nightmare Dungeon Tier
<ul>
<li>Higher difficulty = better chances. You will have more chances of encountering Strongrooms once you hit Torment tiers.</li>
</ul>

<p>Running higher-tier <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nightmare Dungeons</a> improves your chances of triggering a Strongroom even without the guaranteed affix. While it does not promise a Strongroom every time, it does increase the odds in your favor the more you push higher Torment levels.</p>

How to Improve Your Chances to Find Strongrooms


<p>Yesterday, Blizzard released the blog post for <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo IV</a> Season 9, and it introduced more than just a few numbers or system changes. It also squeezed in a new <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/horadric-strongrooms/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Horadric Jewel</a> that was not available in the PTR: <strong>Willbreaker</strong>. </p>



<p>While many players will be experimenting with elemental damage builds this season, the developers decided to give physical builds something to chase as well. But does Willbreaker actually fit into the current meta? That&#8217;s up for debate.</p>



<p>Let&#8217;s break down what this jewel does, how it works, and who it&#8217;s really good for.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Is Willbreaker, and What Does It Do?</h2>



<p>Willbreaker is one of the Horadric Jewels exclusive to Season 9. It can be slotted into amulets and rings on the Seasonal Realm. Those jewels increase both your armor and resistance to all elements, on top of giving you another bonus. Here is what Willbreaker does:</p>



<p><em>Physical damage you deal shatters enemies&#8217; spirits, causing them to take 40%[x] more Physical damage for 6 seconds. This effect applies when first damaging a Boss or Elite, or when they are affected by Crowd Control.</em></p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Blizzard&#8217;s Intentions Behind the Jewel</h2>



<p>Here is what Blizzard said about the Willbreaker:</p>



<p>&#8220;<em>As this season offers extensive options for elemental character builds, we wanted to introduce this new Horadric Jewel so physical builds have something to chase as well</em>.&#8221;</p>



<p>So, the idea was to give physical-focused players a meaningful new upgrade. But right now, it does go a bit against the seasonal meta that seemed to be focusing on Poison or Elemental damage.</p>



<p>However, this is not a bad thing since it means more build possibilities for the season!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which Builds Actually Benefit From Willbreaker?</h2>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Barbarian &#8211; Excellent Fit</h3>



<p><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/barbarian/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Barbarians</a> remain the king of raw Physical power, and Willbreaker slots in perfectly with many of their builds. If you are not relying on Bleed or Thorns, this jewel&#8217;s 40% boost is huge.</p>

<p>Willbreaker getting introduced is a welcome addition that will help cover all <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/druid/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Druid</a> builds that primarily deal physical type damage, as the last jewel slot was rather empty up until now for those.</p>

<p>Druid builds can make use of Willbreaker, but keep in mind that most aren&#8217;t fully physical. If Landslide stays Physical, it could be the best fit.</p>

<p>In the end, Willbreaker brings something new to the table in a season dominated by elemental builds, but how often it gets used is still unclear. It also depends on the balance adjustments that will be announced in the June 27 Campfire Chat.</p>



<p>If your build is already leaning into Physical damage, Willbreaker might be the jewel you&#8217;ve been waiting for. Otherwise? You will be better off chasing elemental synergy instead.</p>


Last Minute Horadric Jewel Added to D4 – Is It Any Good?


<p>Season 9 of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo IV</a>, called Sins of the Horadrim, starts with a brand-new seasonal questline: <em>The Embers Yet Smolder</em>. This story takes place in Cerrigar, where you will meet a Druid named Bryona, who is struggling with dangerous consequences from Donan&#8217;s past decisions. Donan, the Horadric mage who once sealed away <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-9-preview-astaroth-returns-with-a-vengeance/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Astaroth</a>, may have left behind more trouble than he realized.</p>



<p>Now, it is up to you to track down and destroy corrupted blood relics before demons get their hands on them.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to Start the Questline</h2>

A Dark Past Returns in Diablo 4 Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim


<p>We&#8217;ve already talked about all the new Unique items coming with Season 9. However, Blizzard has taken the PTR data and implemented some more tuning for them. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Changes</h2>



<p>From seemingly minor tweaks like the increased radius of the Barbarian&#8217;s Cleave boots, to simple flat buffs to stats, bigger reworks like the Druid&#8217;s Pulverize poison puddles, complete stat changes like Crit Chance to Attack Speed for Sorcerer&#8217;s Hydra amulet, there&#8217;s plenty of changes to check out. </p>



<p>There are some Uniques below with no changes at all, but we included them in case you forgot everything that was coming.</p>

<p>Unique Powers:</p>

<li>If no puddle is around you, Pulverize forms a puddle that guarantees its own Overpowers and deals 200-600% of its normal damage as Poisoning over 7 seconds. Pulverize causes all close puddles to splash 20-60% of their total damage within their areas and around them. Pulverize radius increase will affect the size of the puddle and its splashes. <s>Every 10 seconds, Pulverize forms a puddle that deals 200-400% of its damage as Poisoning damage over 6 seconds. Pulverizing the puddle splashes an additional 20-40% of the puddle’s total damage within the area and around it.</s></li>

<li>Sacrificing both Skeletal Warriors and Golems grants an additional Skeletal Mage for each Minion sacrificed.</li>



<li>When a Skeletal Mage attacks enemies 25 times without dying it upgrades to a Skeletal Arch-Mage.</li>



<li>Skeletal Arch-Mages teleport to safety when attacked and their attacks occasionally shatter on impact dealing 50-100% increased damage to the target and up to 3 additional targets. The time between attacks shattering has been reduced by 50%. Skeletal Arch-Mages now become unstoppable for 1 second after teleporting. Arch-Mage size slightly increased.</li>

<p>You can now overexert yourself while Casting Flurry, spending 8% 10% life when you don’t have enough Energy. Spending life to Cast Flurry increases its damage by 50-70% 30-50% and your Attack Speed by 50% for 5 seconds.</p>

<li>Developer’s Note: Flurry will fail to cast when the player has neither enough energy or health available.</li>
</ul>

<li>For each head above 3 that it would have had, the Hydra instead grows larger and deals 50-100%[x] increased damage.</li>
