Blizzard has debunked a popular rumor which claims drop rates are affected by items you already have in your stash or inventory.
A few days ago, a theory affecting the drop rate of items appeared on Reddit. According to the theory, the “game scans stash and inventory to adjust your drop rate“. The theory recommends players transfer all their stash and inventory to an alt for better drop rates.

Global Community Lead Adam “Pezradar” Fletcher debunked the theory and had the following to say.

This isn’t true. Drop rates are not affected by items you have in your stash or inventory.
