If you have been playing Diablo 4 for a long time, you have probably seen settings you never really touched. Turns out, some of them can seriously improve your gameplay experience, or even help with your farming efficiency.
YouTuber Cliptis recently shared a great breakdown of game-changing options that are either a bit hidden deep in the menus or just turned off by default. You can watch it here:
Here is a quick recap of what is worth toggling on (or off)!
Best Settings to Turn On or off in Diablo 4
- Advanced Tooltip Info
- Head to Gameplay → Advanced Tooltip Info
- If you can see stat ranges on gear, you will instantly know if a roll is low, average, or max. Perfect for smarter gearing during leveling or early endgame.
- Advanced Tooltip Compare
- Head to Gameplay → Advanced Tooltip Compare
- Hold Shift (or Y on controller) to directly compare items and see exact stat gains or losses, including skill bonuses.
- Cross-Network Play (Multiplatform)
- Head to Connect → Cross-Network Play (you will have to log out to the character menu for that one)
- Turning it off can reduce zone population, and it is great for smoother Helltide farming or less crowded areas. Of course, if you are playing with friends who are on another platform, you need to keep Cross-Network Play turned on!
- HUD Compass / Quest Arrow
- Head to Accessibility → HUD
- Adds a red directional arrow to guide you toward your active quest, letting you explore naturally without having to rely on the mini-map.
- High-Contrast Mouse Cursor
- Head to Accessibility → Visual Options
- This will boost your cursor visibility, it is super useful during chaotic fights where your cursor tends to disappear in the middle of all the effects and everything.
- Screen Shake Effect
- Head to Gameplay → Screen Shake
- Turn it off for a cleaner, more stable view. It is very subtle, but it actually helps with comfort, especially when you play during long sessions.
- Damage Numbers Customization
- Head to Gameplay → Combat Text
- Choose the damage types you want to see (like only Overpower) or disable all text if you just want less screen clutter.
- Loot Drop Sound Filter
- Head to Accessibility → At the bottom of the Menu
- You can control the item rarities that make sound effects when dropping. It works a bit like a mini loot filter, keeping your ears focused on the good stuff.
These are all small changes, but together they make Diablo 4 feel so much better to play, so don’t hesitate to try them out!
