No Obducite In Special Nightmare Dungeon Sections in Season 9

Players have noticed a bit of a flaw in the new Horadric additions to Nightmare Dungeons on the PTR.

NMDs and Obducite

The main function of Nightmare Dungeons is to gain Obducite for Masterworking your gear. The whole dungeon system is getting reworked in the next season. Part of that rework are the new Horadric Strongrooms players will run into while exploring the dungeons. They are basically mini-Infernal Hordes. You need to fight your way through waves of enemies with a boss at the end, and choose your buffs and debuffs.

However, it seems the main purpose of Nightmare Dungeons has been lost within these Horadric sub-sections. The Strongrooms do not drop any Obducite whatsoever. Basically, they’re treated as separate content from the NMD they’re in. This is a bit of a problem. Players only run Nightmare Dungeons for said Obducite, and then running into this section and not getting the one thing you’re here for during them isn’t exactly great. This is further exacerbated by the Escalating Nightmares system, which sees multiple NMDs strung together.

Having one of the main seasonal content additions be more of an “oh damn, a Strongroom again, there goes my Obducite” reaction than one of happiness to find them isn’t exactly what Blizzard should be going for. It may seem like this is minor. However, when the dungeons are the main focus of the season, this type of thing can snowball into real frustration very quickly.

This seems like a very easy fix, however. Considering it’s still the PTR, this is the perfect time for Blizzard to take note and implement the change before launch! So let’s hope the Obducitelessness is accidental and will be fixed before Season 9’s launch!
