Set Bonuses, Tower Challenges, and New Classes? Diablo 4 Survey Asks About Many Features

Staff Avatar by Staff

A new player survey from Blizzard is making the rounds, and is giving us some ideas on what might be coming to Diablo 4 with the next Expansion in 2026. Some of these survey questions are long-requested gameplay changes and features!

Shared by community member Iggi on the official forums, the survey was reportedly sent to random players via email and asks a series of detailed questions about how people currently play Diablo 4, what keeps them engaged, and — most importantly — what new features would get them excited about the game again.

Blizzard Wants to Know: What Would Make You Play More?

The survey kicks off with questions about how interested players are in returning to Diablo 4, whether in the short term, at the start of a new season, or for big updates like expansions. It also asks whether players spend more time in the Seasonal realm or stick to Eternal characters.

From there, things get spicy.

Players are asked to rate how exciting or important a list of potential features would be, and it includes over two dozen new ideas, some more well-known and requested features, while others are much more experimental.

Here are just a few highlights from the survey:

  • Set Bonuses: A return to classic Diablo-style item sets, offering powerful build-defining synergies.
  • Dungeon Customization: Design your own dungeon runs, with control over modifiers, affixes, and rewards.
  • Endless Monster Waves: A horde-style mode for Torment+ characters to push their builds to the limit.
  • Fishing: Yep. A casual, non-combat activity for collectors to chill and explore.
  • Tower of Truth: A weekly challenge tower with scaling difficulty and unique modifiers on certain floors.
  • Activity Playlists: Let players choose the rewards they want (like gold or crafting mats) by focusing on specific activities.
  • Mercenary Combo Skills: NPC followers that can sync up with your class skills for flashy and powerful team-ups.
  • New Power Sources: A system like Diablo 3’s Kanai’s Cube, allowing players to permanently slot powers from gear.

There’s also mention of a new class, skill tree overhauls, paragon updates, new legendary affixes, boss rush modes, and even shrines from the Gauntlet being expanded into core gameplay.

Blizzard is Gauging Priorities And Expectations

The survey also includes a ranking section where players compare multiple features and pick which ones are most and least exciting. It seems Blizzard is trying to prioritize what resonates most with the community.

Players could also select from a checklist of what would make them more excited for Diablo 4. This includes things like frequent loot drops, more story characters, seasonal powers, challenging content, and holiday events.

And it doesn’t stop there — a final section focuses on cosmetics and quality-of-life systems, like:

  • Reactive Cosmetics that change based on your actions (like killstreaks).
  • A Build Planner Tool to help players follow online guides or theorycraft in-game.
  • The return of charms and cosmetic portraits from past Diablo titles.

No Promises, But the Message Is Clear

While none of this is a guarantee, the sheer breadth of ideas shows that Blizzard is actively thinking about how to expand Diablo 4 beyond its current foundation, especially after the mixed reviews of the freshly released Roadmap.

If you haven’t received the survey yourself, it might be worth checking the inbox tied to your Battle.net account. Just don’t expect everything on the list to become reality.
